No that won't be covered by Home Insurance.

If you had a home plumbing/maintenance type Insurance that might have helped you.

I believe there are Insurances that help with heating/plumbing issues, so may be search out for such cover, if you want cover for the unexpected.

Thanks for this - it is now clear.

The cause of the leak was a pinhole in the expansion vessel in the boiler, the excess pressure from which caused the junction pushfit to burst and spray water everywhere.

Resultant damage to the underside of the floor and joists below. All evidenced.

This is what I'll put forward and see what they say.

Really interesting to read this, thanks for sharing, keen to understand the final outcome if you took the complaint to the FOS.

My situation is that I also have pressure dropping and me frequently topping it up all too frequently. I remembered I have home emergency cover with my insurer, they came round and guy topped up the pressure which stayed but then went down once he left. He said he'd recommend trace and access but almost certain I won't be covered by home emergency. I am also due to renew my home insurance and home emergency within the next ten days so need to tread carefully.

I have also not noticed any water damage or any obvious signs in the house either so little stuck. Don't want to let home insurance know if they won't cover me but also concerned it could increase my premiums.

I think I need to find a home insurance company with excellent and high level cover that would cover me as I'd rather not have to my for trace and access myself, that being said, expansion vessel wasn't thoroughly checked when the home emergency plumber came the other day, maybe I get him to do a more full in depth check of boiler and parts first.

    All suggestions welcome

You might be better to get a reputable local heating engineer to look at why your boiler is losing pressure.
