hi we booked a weeks hol to turkey last year and paid dep only. i thought the remainder was due 8 wks before but have just looked at paper work and noticed its 12 wks before. due on 17/2/8:eek: i'm only going to be able to pay half of the balance on 17/2/8 does anyone know if they will allow me to pay it late maybe with penalty or will they cancel holiday.
cant believe we have been so stupid  not reading paperwork correctly and only saving a little.

Could you pay by credit card?
There is often a 2% charge for this but might be chepaer than other alternatives.
Also one of you could apply for a capital one card (as you have time) which offers 4% cashback.
You'll have to wait 12 months for the cashback (as it's paid in January) but it would cover your fees and give you a profit.0 -
credit card are not an option will wait and get hubby to call when he gets back from work on sun night.

They will be within their rights to cancel it, and I have known of holidays be cancelled when people have forgotten to pay just a few pounds.
Hopefully you will get someone sympathetic to your situation xGone ... or have I?0 -
My Mum booked a holiday and was told she had had a few weeks before the deadline to pay the balance and as it was the deadline was actually a few days later, the TA lied. My mum rang the First Choice (who she booked with) and they said it was fine to pay a few weeks later and that they wouldnt charge her the late payment fee, why dont you give that a go?0

I would call them and ask them. Payment to the Tour Op is usualy due 8 weeks but some travel agents take payment 10-12 weeks I think its to allow for late payments.
We have paid late but it is important to call them and ask if you can pay 1/2 at the 12 weeks and the rest at 8. They will probably help rather than lose a bookingIf you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel0 -
should you be going on holiday if you cannot afford it?0

Any relatives, parents or friends who would lend you the money?
After all it's only 4 weeks.
Following on from what TBekett said, it's a bit of a concern that you appear to have no "emergency" money.
Everyone should ideally have a pot put by for emergencies to cover unexpected expenses - normally this would be unexpected household repairs, car accident or unexpected redundancy, but this could also fit the bill of an unexpected expense.
You might feel you can afford the holiday but if you have no spare money whatsoever then it means that you would go into arrears if you suffered any kind of mishap (even a small car accident).
So I think that TBekett was onto something about your financial situation being less than ideal (although maybe not worded in the best way).
Everyone deserves a holiday, but perhaps give it some thought as to how you will manage is future if there are any unexpected expenses.0 -
i think economicalaly we are moving into a year of "must have emergency cash" cos everything is starting to look expensive and unpredictable.0
