I know the DWP can be a bit infuriating sometimes.  I had a problem with them a few years ago, it was for ESA.  We had a brilliant MP and I got him to write to the DWP on my behalf.  Not only did they sort it out they sent me an apology and £50.  😺😺😺

My GP would also email a copy of the fit note thereby providing a digital copy

@Murphybear It's a terrible thing to have to admit, but there were times we (claims processors) used to tell claimants to contact their MP.  That was generally after they had tried every other method and got precisely nowhere.  It worked virtually every time an MP got involved, but doing so should never be necessary.

Eventually I was forced to phone last Thursday, as two rounds of expected payments had been missed. The automated/software generated response stated that I would get one week's payment on the 14th Nov. Doh! So then had to wait to be connected to a human, as that was incorrect.

The human stated that both copies of fit notes had been individually recorded as 'correspondence' and not 'med cert'. He confirmed that letters are manually sorted and recorded, and not digitally read/scanned and filed.

He stated it could take up to 3 working days to get rectified, but likely will be quicker due to the errors causing missed payments, and I got 4 weeks' payment within a few hours.

Mistakes can happen, but it is quite poor, and a poor use of resources from their part.
