Adidas gift cards useless

Adidas tell me they are no longer accepting gift cards as part payment for online purchases 

They seem to confuse paying Adidas money for a gift card with a discount!

As a result all my Adidas gift cards are worthless!

This underhand change needs publicity before Xmas

The wording and context of that statement strikes me as odd and potentially ambiguous. 
My reading of it suggests that the gift cards are not able to be purchased at a discount, not that you cannot use them to purchase discounted products.

I can buy Adidas gift cards at a 10.2 % discount at everup (that is, I get 10.2 pence per £ spent as cashback), is the suggestion that these gift cards are invalid?

It does seem to be an ambiguous statement, although other terms make it clear that you can't combine gift cards with any other 'discount', including special offers or sales. 

Pretty petty and restrictive, is it a common restriction? I only buy supermarket gift cards for same day use.

I agree with you

To me it's saying the gift cards cannot be bought at a discount, not that you can't buy discounted products with a gift card.

Also nothing there confirms what the OP says that you can't use a gift card for part payment of online purchases.  It gives a list of stores where they can be used including the online shop

I previously had access to Reward Gateway and they had an option to buy Nike Gift Cards at a discount.  There was about a week delay in receiving the gift card.

There was also an option to buy an instant discount code at about half the saving but it could be used instantly.

There were conditions that didn't allow you to buy the gift card and link to the instant discount code.  

Both options had a condition that they could not be used with discount / sale / clearance items on the website.

I wonder whether the OP has purchased discounted gift card through a similar scheme and that discounted gift card can only be used against full price purchases.

Two different things

Voucher - coupon or other device giving a specified benefit eg "10% off Trackie Bottoms", "Buy One Football Hooligan Jacket get Second Half Price",etc

Gift Card - alternative to cash/card for use online or in-store.

I think there is a wider problem - I have an Adidas GC brought through TCB and I can’t even check the balance through the Adidas website.  It feels like something might be down with the GC database?  I have pinged them a note on WhatsApp so let’s see what happens…
