Afternoon all, thanks @Gers for today's start. After rain yesterday evening, it's a dry and sunny day here with a moderate breeze. Very chilly though with daytime highs of 8 deg but feeling more like 5 deg and down to as low as 0 deg overnight! I haven't put the winter duvet on the bed yet but think that's likely to happen soon.
I don't have anything in particular planned for today but do have a minestrone type soup simmering away for weekday lunches and continuing with one of the jigsaws that I started yesterday. It's a long time since I did puzzles and I'd forgotten just how engrossing they can be. Tea tonight is a mushroom risotto and I'll be doing my best to make just enough for one meal rather than having extra for the freezer, otherwise I'm not going to have room for Xmas stuff. What Xmas dinner will look like this year is anyone's guess - last year was the first without DH but DS was living with me temporarily; this year he and his DP will be in Brazil so I'll be a true singleton. I'm OK with that as (a) it's just one day (b) I like my own company (c) I don't have to have a traditional Xmas dinner if I don't want to; I certainly won't miss the inevitable leftovers or the heaps of washing up!
But what to have instead? I'm sure I'll find something.
@SO - My heating has been on mornings and evenings for a while now but so far I haven't needed it during the day.
@TA - Glad you survived the dentist visit unscathed!
@Izzy - Good on you for doing a bit extra at the CS. I think it will be busier in the lead up to Xmas and probably after too when people bring in unwanted pressies.
@Gers - A very pleasing day for you yesterday, enjoy your walk today if you do decide to venture out.
@Coxy - Congratulations on the award. I hope the new shoes were kind to your feet!
@camelot - Sorry to hear you had a bad night, take it easy today.
@-taff - Looking forward to the Xmas carols!
Have a good day all, don't forget the clocks go back tonight. The extra hour in bed won't help the sleepless though so I hope the Sandman pays a visit. Take care all, healing wishes as usual for those under the weather with various ailments and illnesses. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.7 -
