Good morning
Thank you for the start @Gers
Well after sunshine yesterday it's back to cold, wet and windy. I was trying to make it until 1st Nov before putting the heating on but I might have to give in and put it on sooner.
Bought some leeks yesterday so I'll make a big pot of leek and potato soup.
Take careIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.11 -
Morning folks and thanks GERS. Blimey it's going to be a cold one today. Currently 5 deg and then set to reach the dizzy heights of 6 deg!! But at least the sky is blue, the sun is shining and no rain!
It's going to be soup kitchen morning here too SO. I have had a piece of ys Stilton in the freezer for long enough so that is now defrosting to make a big pan of Broccoli and Stilton soup. It's a while since I made that and it will cover my lunches for the next few days, plus some for the freezer.
DS is working this morning so the SS is on hold until early afternoon. Still wading my way through the freezers so the usual list of f & v and fridge stuff. I have one drawer in the small freezer earmarked for Xmas stuff and I already a few things in there, spotted reduced or on offer.
Yesterday's trip to the dentist went well with nothing to be done thank goodness. I was then wending my way to B**ts when DD rang to see if I fancied a run out to the big retail park as she was looking for a certain bread bin. Of course it was a yes even though I wasn't needing anything, so she picked me up in town. It was a fruitless trip for her as bread bins like the one she is after seem in short supply these days but I enjoyed my run out!
Have a lovely day folks if you can with ((HUGS)) for the poorlies and recovering. WL I hope your shoulder soon feels less painful. Take care all, stay safe and keep warm!! xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"10 -

Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing9

Morning again - all shiny and ready for the day, even if it's a very cold one. No stars this morning, too much cloud cover even though sunset was beautiful. My day yesterday verged on being productive
blood pressure check with pharmacist was pleasingly in the correct zone then I refrained from any shopping though managed to dispose of the recycling bag, both of which were also pleasing. In the afternoon the lovely landscape chap came to cut the grass - he has a heavy duty petrol machine. It's been so long since I've done the cut, mostly down to the continual awful weather, so it was long and wet. Even his big bit of kit had a hiccup or two but it's done and I'm much happier. My plan was to take away the cuttings to the dump, however, I could hardly lift the bags and surely wouldn't have been able to hoist them over the top of the container so he took them away.
Later on I picked up my old gilet from the dry-cleaners then took it, and some unwanted bowls, to the local CS. Another tick on my list!Today is open to inspiration. The weather may stay dry so perhaps a wee walk is on the cards. Anyway, I hope that everyone is doing OK, especially those with bugs, infections and ongoing health issues. Hugs to all.10 -
Morning all and thanks for the start @Gers. Glad your gardener could sort the grass for you 😊
An extremely late night - think I got to sleep around 2am. The awards ceremony finished around 11pm and I dropped DSis and BIL home. DH had the day from hell and only made the event by the skin of his teeth so we need to go back for his car today. DSis and I got an award to share! Have left it with her.Not much going on today. Some garden tidying if we can be bothered as it looks dry. $1m spaghetti for dinner later - yum.Happy soup making @silver-oldie and @TravellingAbuela.Cross-stitch WIP: Haberdashery Shop Fiver Friday challenge 2025 founding member 😊 Read 25 books in 2025 20/25 Currently reading Finding Hildasaay by Christian Lewis11 -
Morning All
Bright and sunny this morning, I'll do a wash load once I've had a shower.
Congrats on the award Coxy!
Hugs to you Snoozer, hope you're feeling better.
Bet you're glad to get the grass cut for winter Gers, good on the chap for taking the cuttings away.
Glad you didn't have to have anything done at the dentist TA.
Must be soup season, DD came up yesterday and made me a pan of leek and potato soup, we enjoyed some for lunch and there's some in the fridge for lunches for the next few days, I'm not usually a soup lover but it's easy to eat and doesn't seem to upset my tummy too much.
I had a terrible night, tummy pains and next door having some sort of gathering, they were still going at 5.30 this morning. Quite unusual for them so won't say anything, at least the car that was parked over my drive has now gone. I'll have a little nap later!
I will go and collect an order from Argos this morning for Christmas pressies and get some firelighters from B&M, that'll be it for the day.
Take care and have a good weekend. XX8 -
Congratulations to @Coxy - brilliant! And @snoozer, that's a lovely wee corner, just perfect. @Camelot - not too long now. Bland fat free food is the way to go.Been out to soak the slabs with algae cleaner, changed the water in the flowers, wrote two emails, sorted out a return and now doing nothing!5

Morning all
Dry and bright here but very cold, the wm is on and the washing can be hung out for a while.
I am feeling better every day I shall do a test tomorrow and hopefully it will be negative, I need to get back to work next week, my foot is also much less painful and I had a better night.
Dinner tonight is steak egg and chips with a few mushrooms on the side, yesterday OH cooked a really tasty curry along with his green bean curry, it was so tasty and clean plates all round.
I did clean the oven yesterday it was quite grim 🤢 but it looks so much better now, I have the racks soaking overnight so I will tackle them this morning and then go and steam clean the bathroom.
Snoozer your reading corner is lovely xx
Coxy well done on the award, what was it for ? Xx
Camelot not too long to wait now, take care of yourself xx
Have good days all and take care xx5 -
Hello everyone
We have a really cold wind here today, the sun is shining though so that's good.
I've been out for some shopping, mainly sweets for the trick or treaters and for little one, who is planning on going round the village. Mind she was going to last year, but changed her mind and handed out sweets at their house instead, so we'll see.
Just having a quick lunch and then I'm going into town to have my hair cut and coloured, definitely not my favourite thing to do but it looks awful....I'll take a book with me. I'm going to go in a bit earlier and have a look in the charity shops.
Snoozer - I love your reading corner, the chair looks very comfy.
Coxy - congratulations on your award...late night though
Camelot - inconsiderate of your neighbours, you'll be needing a nap later
Izzy I've bought from charity shops for years, I love a bargain
Oh and you've all made me fancy homemade soup!
Hope everyone has a good day x2
