Building Control Question…Fireboarding on lintel.

I wondered if anyone could advise please?

We have a garage attached to our house.
You can get through the back of the garage through a door to the garden.
Above that door is a lintel.
Above the garage is a bedroom etc.

On the lintel is some fire board…just the width on the lintel.
Does that need building control sign off please and if so, when did that requirement start?

thankyou very much

Under current rules, many types of building work requires building regulations sign-off.

If you're saying that somebody did some building work which included creating a new opening in the garage for a doorway - then that building work should have building regs sign-off.

But if, for example, the opening in the garage was part of the house when it was built, then the whole house should have had building regs sign-off when it was built, according to building reg rules at that time.  (There wouldn't be a separate sign-off for that doorway.)

Or if the opening in the garage was created as part of an extension, the whole extension should have had building regs sign-off when it was built, according to building reg rules at that time.  (Again, there wouldn't be a separate sign-off for that doorway.)
  • Hi, no its an existing door , in an existing garage, with an existing lintel.
It has now got fireproofing over the lintel as maintenance as it didnt exist before
