Hi,
I’m just looking for some information to see what we can do.
My partner has just received a letter from Gladstone solicitors demanding over 300 for a parking charge from December 2023.
background
Two Parking charges given at JD gym Huddersfield for overstaying.
25/11/2023
28/11/2023
Jd has a ipad system which we assume did not recognise his registration number.
contacted Jd gym got proof of him using his pin to enter and exit the gym around them times.
Sent an Appeal with this Information for the fine dated 28/11/2023 - they rejected it but reduced it to £20- they write it was reduced because it was the first parking charge.
We did not agree to this but it was paid and to be honest I feel like I may have just paid the £100 too and forgot all about it.
We have not had any more letters or reminders in regard to this but a letter from Gladstone solicitors has arrived demanding payment for £300 for non payment of the fine from 25/12/2023 or the matter is going to court.
I have checked my emails and bank statements can’t seem to find any proof- I have no idea what the payment portal they use is at all.
Is there anything we can do?
*edited to change the word parking charge- not fine:offence.

The Letter did not mention the word FINE, or the word OFFENCE
Is this new letter a Letter of Claim giving you 30 days notice ? Or a debt collection letter giving you 7 or 14 days notice ?
Do not pay a penny1 -
Letter will be uploaded soon as I get off work.
I was not able to appeal the parking charge from 25/11/2023- I have checked my emails and a email was sent to the company advising them that I could not get onto the portal to register a appeal but I got no response.
I think we just have forgot about that charge after this and paying the £20 and it has popped up again.0 -
It is a letter before claim giving us 30 days to pay £310- dated 14/10/20250

Your parking charge date above is incorrect, that would be next month !
I suggest that you respond to Gladstones using the LoC response template in the newbies sticky thread in announcements, post 21 -
Right. So this tedious LBC stage is already covered in post 2 of the NEWBIES thread (please don't copy & paste the reply here, we don't beed to check your reply ... or theirs).Pinksoh said:It is a letter before claim giving us 30 days to pay £310- dated 14/10/2025
Come back only if you get a Claim Form.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
CLICK at the top or bottom of any page where it says:
Home»Motoring»Parking Tickets Fines & Parking - read the NEWBIES THREAD0
