No will

I recently contacted Probate on line to enquire whether a will had been submitted for a relative following their death some years ago. They sent me a reply saying there was no will. However, I do not understand the last sentence of their reply, copy below. Does anybody have any idea what "la iMul spouse" means. Many thanks.
"The reason for this is that the Grant that issued in this case is a Grant of Letters of Administration. This is a legal document issued by a Probate Registry when a person has died without making a valid will (called intestate) and is issued to an administrator of the estate. This is usually the Ia iMuI spouse if any, or nearest blood relative."

sounds like a bit of bad typing on their behalf - likely to be something like "legal spouse" or "living spouse"

Sounds like Admin was issued in the absence of a will. They don't absolutely know the relation to the deceased but normally it would be granted to their legal spouse.
If you check the Probate Registry, you can get a copy of the Grant of Probate which will tell you who it was, cost £1.50.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
I'd guess "lawful" in place of "la iMul" i.e. the lawful spouse which is an American term I believe. Just on basis more characters are correct than legal or living spouse - despite the overall meaning being the same.
I'll blame the handwriting OCR software used for the mistakebut there was a lack of a proof reading check by the author, too!

I'd reply and ask what it means. Hopefully, they will check before pressing send in the future.0
