Faulty Ipad Air

I purchased Ipad Air from Currys 14 April 2025. Device was delivered 19 April 2025.

1st of July i took ipad back to currys for burnt charging port fault. They accepted it under warranty and repaired it.

6 October 2025 charging port burnt again and i took iPad for repair back to currys. This time they sent it to apple and apple claimed “physical damage “ with no further explanation. Ipad was returned unrepaired stating that the fault is not covered under manufacturer warranty.

It is inconsistent and unreasonable that the same fault, previously repaired under warranty now classified as physical damage with no evidence or explanation what apple found.

At the same time Currys informed me that my Apple power adapter is eligible for replacement or exchange. This clearly indicates that apple found fault within power adapter purchased together with ipad under single contract of sale.

I sent a formal complaint to currys under the consumer rights act 2015. What chances do i have to get ipad replaced as same charging port fault occurred twice within 5.5 months?

Currys have a report saying it's failed due to physical damage. You'll need to counteract that with a report stating it has failed due to a non user fault. Then you'll need to send a LBA and take Currys to the small claims court. Will then be for a judge to decide on the balance of probabilities which report holds slight more weight.

Charging ports don’t burn out on their own. It’s almost always due to liquid damage or something else being in the port or on the end of the cable.

They may have given you the benefit of the doubt the first time.

You’ll need to get an independent report confirming a manufacturing fault. I can’t see how that would be possible given nature of the “fault”.
