Questions re possible restructure

Currently in consultation period for a restructure.

have worked for 8 years in a band 5 NHS admin role.

in the new structure, job descriptions have been completely rewritten and the banding is currently at a band 4.  The job will be very different to what I am doing now.  There are 6 posts going to 5, all 6 are in scope and there will be a competitive process for the 5 roles.

I’m not really sure if i want to stay,  i have a lot going on in my life and my current role allows me flexibility and autonomy and I don’t think this will continue in any new role.

2 people on the restructure team work in the department, we have been told that 1 of them will slot into a higher banded admin role the only band 5 in the new structure - the job description for that role matches my current job spec more than the other admin roles that we are going to be pooled for - I feel this is a bit underhand, and although nothing has been mentioned about the other one we can all see which role they will slot into.

Am in a union.

really looking for some guidance on how to play this going forward.  Haven’t had a 121 meeting yet and not really sure what to and what not to tell them ?   I have submitted my comments but haven’t had a response as yet.

I'm a bit confused can you clarify that its

    6 posts dropping to 5
and they are regrading those posts down to B4 from B5?

So they are asking you to
    1. compete for one of the remaining posts
    2. accept down grading to B4

If you're "not really sure if i want to stay" then you should push for redundancy. To avoid that they should try & find you "suitable alternative employment" but since they are reducing headcount that is unlikely, unless other departments have vacancies?

The question to ask first would be what happens if you are unsuccessful in the competitive process
