This will be my last comment as I came here for advice on getting this escalated. Consumer rights act is clear on the burden of proof, I didn’t write, just following it, not here to debate the law.

It was a Mother’s Day gift, my personal preference is to give gifts rather than IOU’s. As with any home improvements, things crop up that adds to the time taken to complete. Life crops up. Maybe in a perfect world these things don’t happen - in mine they do. There’s no hidden story here, the decorating dragged on.

There were clear instructions in the box about how to unpack and put up, clearly followed so I am adamant this isn’t our damage. £400 isn’t a small amount of money to just accept you have lost through no fault of your own. What if it was damaged prior to delivery? Should we just accept that.

The way in which it has been dealt with as well has been shocking. Singing I don't care down the phone doesn’t represent the standards of a multi million pound company.

If we had damaged it, I wouldn’t be this frustrated and I’m sure someone will reply ‘maybe my husband did’ etc but based on who knows him, I’ll stick to my viewpoint.

Thank you for giving up time to comment even if it hasn’t managed to resolve the issue.

You've been told what to do next several times in this thread.
Letter before action and then small claims court. Let a judge decide on the balance of probabilities whether it arrived damaged or you damaged it.

Just popping on to give an update. Full refund agreed because of consumer rights act. Annoying that it took so much time and effort but glad they followed the law in the end

Was this in response to a letter before action?

No, I had done one last attempt at the exec complaints office. Finally managed to correspond with someone who knew the law

More likely a payout to get rid of an irritating itch rather than knowing the law.
