Unit Stocking

I have paid for a search using the VIN of a Volvo XC70 that I want to buy privately.  It has an Authorities spec so has probably been built to a police force spec.  However it also appears to have Unit Stocking status with Santander named.  This sounds odd for a car that the seller claims to have owned for 6 years.

Further re above.  The finance dates back to July 2015, the year of registration.

Almost certainly an error - but whether you want the hassle of trying to clear it or not is the question.

"It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas. What do you say? Is it the new Bluesmobile or what?"

When were catalytic converters first used in diesel cars?  I'm aware of the cop bit which may be a problem from an insurance point of view?  The insurance company was having problems with telephone system this morning so I'll try again tomorrow.

Depending on how comprehensive the search you did was, it should have details of the finance including a contact telephone number and agreement number. It is them you need to contact (a forum post is relatively useless), for they can declare no further interest in the car. It looks like (with being in private ownership for 6 years) it was at one point on unit stocking but its removal was never done properly, an admin error from the past.

I'd resolve it before committing to the car, just in case it gets complicated - it would affect your future ability to sell it.
