NEIGHBOUR CUTTING MY HEDGE WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE

Hi Folks

My neighbour cut my hedge while I was away, without my knowledge.

When I asked him, he said that he was looking for his internet cable.  He does not seem very approachable and doesn't understand English that well.

Can I take any action  against him?

Thanks

How has it been cut? Is it a 6ft+ mature hedge reduced to 2ft or is it just a tidy / trim

Whilst he's at the shops, you could go and mow his lawn perhaps - that would make you evens.

If he has cut back anything overhanging his property, he is perfectly entitled to do that.  If he has cut back the hedge on your property it's theoretically potentially criminal damage.  Hedges will generally regrow, as long as they aren't conifers, and cutting back can actually be beneficial.
