I am more than happy with my bank,Halifax. I have been using on-line banking for quite a while and everything runs smoothly.

Yes,there is now a ‘but’ coming. Yesterday I wanted to query why a payment I had made was not showing in the pending payments or my statements. A simple question.

There was no contact phone number anywhere on the app and I was forced to use the ‘digital assistant’ (you know, that pretendy robot who can answer most queries🤣…not!).

I put in my question, which of course the ‘assistant’ didn’t understand. I changed the question a few times using different words. Still didn’t understand. I was on the verge of throwing my phone through the window by this time! My last message was ‘ I want to speak to a human’….still no understandy!. I gave up!

Ultimately I contacted the Company I had paid, and the matter was resolved.(Payment had not been taken..yet)

I was so infuriated. I thought technology was to assist speed things up?

i so detest these digital assistants!
I'm going to presume this "assistant" is the same as the one on the Lloyds app? If so I absolutely feel your pain.

I've taken a 0% purchases card with Lloyds to spread the cost of an OU module, rather than making my savings take a hit.

I would like to pay the monthly installment in the first few days of the month - but alas shifting the date the direct debit comes out via this method seems impossible. However I ask the question I just get "do you want to do [a different task]" or "I don't understand"

This card is getting closed as soon as possible, and I'm seriously considering having my savings take a hit. The experience would also rule me out of ever switching to Lloyds / Halifax / Bank of Scotland for my banking.

The other annoying thing with the Halifax app, is that if you have a pension pot with Scottish Widows, they display the amount in it on the front page of the app.
I tried via the chatbot to get it removed, but of course it didn’t understand the request.
I have since discovered that it can not be removed, so it is there whether you like it or not.

My car insurer gave me £75 to go away after getting into a chat bot circular conversation over a very simple query which ended up as a complaint due to the bot's handling of it.  The bot also "resolved" the complaint and closed it ! A human fixed the problem in a 24hr computer update cycle by simply inputting the information given to the bot 3 weeks earlier.

Yes I have a Scottish Widows pension with my employer and it shows on the Home Screen, but you can’t do anything with it, it just sits there chilling. I have never asked for it to be removed, though. Didn’t know you can’t get it removed.

ETA:- it looks like you can hide the account from the Home Screen.

I believe my DS has used it to add to his pension.  Although I think there can be quite a time lag which can be concerning.
