Hi,
I have an old mesh 700gdr running the above amd athlon 700 processor. I need a heatsink and fan as fan has stopped working. Anyone know where I can get one or is it just possible to replace the fan on its own (it does screw off) i.e do these fans come as standard and can be bought at a good computer shop?
many thanks
Joe

The fans are usually replaceable.
They come in pretty standard sizes, 60mm/70mm/80mm.
Most often there will be a screw at each corner.
You may be best checking down at your local market or PC repair shop. Ebay will have them too. Postage will cost more than the fan.
Watch out for a slim line fan. Most often fans are about 25mm deep. (I think)
The fans usually have two arrows showing the way the fan spins and the direction of the air. You want the air forced down into the heatsink.
If you can't see the screws then the fan may be clipped into place.
You may still be able to get hold of a suitable heatsink and fan combo for £5-7 or so. Coolermaster , thermaltake, akasaa will be OK.
Search for "socket A heatsink and fan". I think the early Athlons were socket A.0 -
you can still get socket A h/s/f.
slot A is just about impossible nowadays. ebay maybe?Get some gorm.0
