Caulking on a roll

Will this fill in a tiny crack along the edges of a conservatory floor (below the windows) - to stop ants from getting in to the conservatory ?
Rather than a tube (my hands are not steady)

If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.

  • You might be better to eliminate the ants. The little devils will get in through the tiniest hole so sealing them out is very difficult.

The bait stations with fipronil in them have worked for me in the past.

    Agree with eliminating the ants.
I have not used the 'chaulking on a roll so cannot comment.' but I have apply the chaulk in a tube indirectly, by using  a chauking gun to squeeze  the chaulk onto a plate and quickly apply it with the tip of my finger / with a chaulk applying tool <-- this helped me to smooth surface the out about  but I was not expecting a professional finish.

I thought at first it was a typo, but when you used it repeatedly, I thought I had learnt a new word, so had to google it,
"Chaulking" is likely a misspelling of caulking, the process of applying caulk, a flexible sealant material used to fill gaps, cracks, and seams.
Is chaulking a word commonly used where you live?

I haven't seen this product, MOD. I'll search, but do you have a link to a specific item?
    In theory it sounds good.
And any chance of a pic of this 'tiny' crack, and showing its accessibility?

Sounds interesting. I also haven't heard of it.
I see it can be either like a flat tape or quadrent.
If anyone knows more about how well it sticks that would be useful because I have an area behind the sink taps that I've been unable to do well.

For MOD I agree deal with the ants from the outside.
Also agree with the ant traps as best but I use the powder as well. It needs doing each spring and again midsummer.

Another easy way is to fill a spray bottle with diluted bleach or jeyes fluid to remove the smell of the trails they leave.
Dealing with them from the outside where they are coming in.
    Caulking they eat through easily.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

I don't think that will work, as it won't form and seal tightly to uneven surfaces. So, unless the two sides around this crack is very smooth, I fear it's a non starter.
I'd assumed the caulk roll would be a malleable bead of some sort that could be pressed into place.
Pics would help, so we can comment on the access.
Acrylic frame sealants are water-based and easy to smooth off even with your fingers - a rough bead along the crack, and then just run your (gloved) fingers along it. Or, even use a dampened paintbrush for this - it should smooth and seal it.
    Anyhoo - pics please :-)

Again, that appears to be a 'solid' product, so will hold its profile, and not be moulded into the shape you want.
The stuff I'm thinking of is the 'mastic' strip you get when bedding down sinktops and hobs - it's like plasticine or putty, but sticky. You can stretch and tear it, and form it into place along the crack.
But I still think frame sealant could work better, and be smoothed off using a small paintbrush.

You are correct and it was my typo.

We had mice and had block some entry points (we had no mice since)
I had to fill the gaps as much as possible using steel wool, I found it best to build up the steel wool so it is not one big 'blob' so it it tightly filled and then used 'spray foam' to fill in the rest (as we wanted it solid) as the gaps were at the bottom of the wall. The spray foam was not easy to control and not easy to remove.
