Dear All
My 93 year old mother has just been notified she will receive £300 in winter fuel allowance soon. For reasons I do not understand she used to receive £600 before it was withdrawn last year. Can anybody please enlighten me on why my mother was receiving twice the allowance?
Thanks

£300 is the max you can get even if it's a couple in the household.... sounds like an error has been made.0

For a couple of years there were Cost of Living Payments being given out too, and the pensioner one was £300. Since all pensioners received the Winter Fuel Payment as well (there were no financial criteria for it) the government decided it was easier to bundle the two amounts together instead of having to administer two separate payments for exactly the same people.Black_Monk said:Dear All

As your mother was over 80 she will have been received the £300 WFP plus £300 CoL = £600 total.6 -
