VARS Drive Off Notice

Letter received 8/10. dated 26/9 stating a drive away with unpaid fuel of £10.01 with fees £40.01. Emailed them 8th/10 with a copy of amex bill for £13ish as a cup of coffee was also had, staff didnt give a receipt. The staff member was very busy chatting to her colleague and distracted, but 10 fuel and a coffee the price seemed appropriate. Vars state that the cashier is not obligated to ask you if you has fuel but has clearly rung up the wrong thing as the bill requested seemed appropriate.
Vars stated 9th Oct that written permission was required to discuss this as the email is my wifes, which was sent by return. No response from them. Today a letter with an increased fee and fine for £70.01.
Is there an obligation for them to suspend proceedings whilst its challenged? Is there a timescale they should adher to please?

It's just a speculative invoice. No timescales, other than they have 6 years to make a court claim. Why haven't they informed the police if they think you committed theft? No money to be made in that!
We have never seen a court claim from any of these.
The only difficulty is that your reg can be blacklisted.
What is the fuel station company?2 -
It is not a local station, and i didn't think of contacting them tbh. I assumed they outsourced the money chasing so they don't have to get involved. The fuel station is Moto Leigh Delamere Westbound in Wiltshire, and the reason we only got £10 of fuel was because of the outrageous price, seems like it will cost me a full tanks worth potentially anyway.0

No it won't. They don't know who the "culprit" was, they have sent it to the registered keeper on a fishing expedition.Lulu0110 said:It is not a local station, and i didn't think of contacting them tbh. Sorry? You won't have to pay anything!Lulu0110 said:It is not a local station, and i didn't think of contacting them tbh. Nor will your wife. There is no keeper liability so if it were me I'd leave it in her name and ignore. Stop engaging with scammers. I've no idea why people think they have to pay these.
Instead complain in your wife's name to MOTO Head Office and insist they cancel this.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
