Thank you.MyRealNameToo said:It will depend on the data point. Insurers note total losses, stolen etc into the MIAFTR database which is owned by the Motor Insurance Bureau and then passes the data onwards to the DVLA. I dont know where HPI gets its data, either directly from the MIB, from the DVLA or another source.
I have written to MIB to try and clarify my Insurance categoryIn the meantime my advert has now been published!Thank you for getting in touch and clarifying that.
We have now reactivated your ad and it’s live on Gumtree here:0 -
Always possible, there will be a default behaviour built into the site if, for example, it cannot get a response from HPI. Certainly the prudent response would be to block a posting if you can't determine its status.2dareis2do said:

Maybe some temporary glitch?2 -
I would check, as saying it's a N & it turns out to be different. Is one of the few cases where the buyer could take you to court to get their money back.2dareis2do said:
Yes, It should show the correct category on gumtree. I have nothing to hide. Pretty sure it is a cat N.Presumably you are planning to be upfront with that information for any buyer anyway in your listing, wherever you are able to list it, so them potentially doing their own HPI check and it telling them that wouldn't affect their decision.Life in the slow lane0 -
They have removed it again nowMyRealNameToo said:

I have also contacted UK-CAP HP to try and find out what information they have.
Furthermore, i have renewed my insurance, Third Party, Fire and Theft with Express Insurance Services, for one year with a new Insurance company on compare the market site or similar.
Not sure what happens if the bike is lost or stolen, as I am not sure if I can claim again or not?0 -
Interestingly Google AI references MSE when asking if I can claim again on a Cat N vehicle. So I guess I could make another claim despite it being cat N?0
-
Yes, you can make multiple claims for a categorised vehicle.
If it is stolen or written off (rather than damaged) the insurance company will try to reduce the payout (50%) in my case) by saying the market value is a lot less due to the category marker.
I did manage to successfully argue against that and get a 95% payout but it was quite a long-winded effort.1 -
Just heard back from MIB. They have confirmed the previous claim was a cat N.Still yet to hear any thing back from HPI although they did ask for my vehicle registration number.0
