                    Hello,
I'm based in Belfast, Northern Ireland and the temperature has dropped considerably it seems. As a result I want to start getting the fire on to help heat the house a bit more.
Normally I bought coal in home bargains but I haven't seen them about and their prices seemed to be creeping up. Is there anywhere better value?
Similarly, I got the fire logs for around 1gbp each in Lidl but they seem to be much more expensive now. I'm open to an alternative to these, I just find them handy for getting a fire going without needing to faff endlessly.

If you have space to store logs and/or coal you'd need better buying in bulk. I got a ton bag of seasoned hardwood for £60 and get 10x20kg bogs of smokeless coal for £73.1

Look online to see if you have a local Coal Merchant who will deliver.
We get smokeless fuel in 25Kg bags plus seasoned hardwood delivered and lifted on to our front garden. We then have to take the logs round the back using a wheelbarrow.1

Not in NI but Wales. I have bought seasoned hardwood logs for my Morso wood burning stove from local wood management businesses. They usually sell by the cu.m - I buy 3 cu.m at a time cut to medium (12" or less) length. Logs are a by product of their business.0
