Sold un-used phone back to Cex and they say it’s broken

Hello,

I purchased a phone in store at Cex just over a month ago. I didn’t get around to using it - it was purchased as a spare phone to take to a festival.

I decided I wanted to recoup some money so sent it in to sell at the grade that I bought it for.

They are offering £15, stating that the phone is broken because the casing is coming off.

Do I have any recourse here on the basis that they sold me a broken phone? I’m guessing not but thought I’d ask. Their warranty doesn't seem to cover anything physical.

Many Thanks

    Was it broken when you received it?

    They're two unrelated transactions - if you wished to complain about the initial purchase then you could have done.

    Assuming they're correct about the current condition of the phone and are pricing their offer accordingly, the fact that you originally bought it from them isn't relevant.

    I see your point. So yes, they sold me a broken phone. I didn’t take it out of the bubble wrap. I can start there, although I am past their return window.

    You purchased a used phone in-store and didn't even remove the packaging let alone examine the thing to see if it even powered up?

    @Undervalued is being kind.
