Will installing a smart meter affect my existing solar panel system and FIT payments?
I’m anticipating having a Smart Meter installed for use with my Octopus electricity and gas account. However, I have existing solar panels (installed in 2011) and a FIT payment contract with E-On Next and I am concerned whether this will be a problem when the Smart Meter is installed.
Shortly, I also intend to have an EV electrical charger installed to charge a newly purchased electric vehicle and I wish to take advantage of Octopus flexible/cheap tariffs.
My questions are therefore:- Can I have a Smart Meter installed without complications?
- How will the Smart Meter work with my FIT account?
- Will I be able to keep the FIT contract with E-On Next?
- In order to take “FIT generation” meter readings, will I continue to use the existing Total Generation Meter and will this continue to work alongside the Smart Meter?
