GG is only your view of your record for simple purposes, they will have a more in depth view for whatever purposes they need be it paid, treated as paid or credited.

NI earned from working simply shows a full year, you also see the amount of NI paid.  There is no real relationship between the 2 - full year with £5 paid, full year with £1000 paid or full year with £0 paid.
Correct, i agree (and that's why my record shows "full year" each time those scenarios have happened).

My question is in the instance i need to make a claim for JSA, where do they look (which database) do they base their assessment on (they can't base it on the information on the government gateway as it only shows the info from DWP).

DWP will update the eNIRs system (happens automatically) with the relevant periods for which you claimed a qualifying benefit which will award an NI credit. HMRC will then update your NI record with information they hold about your employment and from any credits awarded by DWP as a result of claiming a benefit (as held on eNIRs).
The term 'credit' is usually used for a week that has been credited to your NI record as you were in receipt of a qualifying benefit for that week.
As @molerat said, you can earn multiple credits per week, as can happen when a claimant may be claiming UC (or JSA) and Carers Allowance at the same time. The term 'credit' isn't usually used with reference to NI though employment, even where no NI was actually paid (e.g, earnings at or above the LEL but below the primary threshold). Note this link does not refer to the term 'credit'.
Your NI record will show as year full or year not full, and should include details of the number of weeks that may have been credited within that tax year.
