Basic PAYE Tools and National Insurance

Hi Everyone
I have just realised that I should have changed an employee's National Insurance code letter on Basic PAYE tools at the beginning of this tax year.
I have changed it going forward but I need to backdate the hange to the beginning of the tax year - does anyone know how to do this please?
Regards

I think it works on a year to date basis.  Therefore, the software should make the necessary adjustment.  I used to use the basic payroll tools and if I wasn't sure of something I'd just run the next payroll and see what it comes up with.  You can always delete the run assuming you haven't submitted it.
  • Thanks uknick but I'm not sure that's the case, having run a month's payroll since I updated the code letter it only lists that month's wages under the NI year to date figure.

NIC isn't cumulative unlike tax. What category was it on and what has it changed to - does it affect Employers or Employees contributions.....or both?

Some guidance at the bottom of this link - https://www.gov.uk/payroll-errors/correcting-your-fps-or-eps

Sorry my mistake, I thought you were talking about the income tax side.  I should have read your post more carefully.
