Consumer rights for fitted wardrobe HELP!

We had a wardrobe fitted in September 2024 however! the top filler panel was cracked and a completely different colour to the wardrobe, the light fittings were the incorrect specification and therefore not fitted, none of the glass tops for the side tables or dressing table were the right size and the measurements for the dressing table meant that the table had to be cut on a corner to fit around an old wardrobe frame… not highlighted on the planning phase. The glass tops that he laid on the side tables stuck out by an inch which consequently caused a safety hazard for our toddler.
All this was raised with the supplier at the time but we are 1 year on and not one thing has been rectified. I battled with the customer services team for 4 months repeatedly getting emails saying ‘case closed’ without anything resolved and gave up due to the stress of it all.
My child has been suffering severe sleep apnea since 2024 and I am up between 2 and 20 times a night with him whilst we await diagnosis and a treatment plan… now my own health is suffering and I’m off work on long term sick.
In March I decided to detail all of the this on trust pilot as I didn’t want anyone else feeling like I had and watching their money leave their account every month for the privilege of substandard work, unfinished and stress!! The total was in excess of £7000 which is all on credit card and credit agreement with them. Suddenly they have now contacted me because of my review on trust pilot NOT because of the product or their incompetence! I explained everything to the case manager who was polite but expressed little empathy … we awaited a resolution in form of what can be done/not done and compensation but instead I’ve had AGAIN received multiple emails asking for measurements, I’ve been offered two glass side table tops that still don’t fit.. too big or too small it’s my choice!!!! and one to be refunded at £17.50 as they can’t supply that particular fit. They Originally accused me of lying about the light fittings and told me I knowingly ordered hard wired ones and not non hardwired even though I had a whole conversation in the show room about my 70s house and lack of plugs and the requirement for a re-wire!!! They made out that they have had to specially source them for me… I’m not sure how I would have known they existed seeing as I work for the Emergancy services and not a furniture fitting company!!!! And I’m still in the dark about the panel that’s a different colour.
I am suffering real life stress, illness and anxiety… mainly because of sleep deprivation and other stresses but I just can’t bring myself to battle these people again. What can I do ? Can I just ask for a full refund? I’m tired of feeling like I am the issue and being unreasonable… it’s making me ill.

Unfortunately whilst I'm sympathetic your health issues and toddler difficulties, these have nothing to do with your bedroom furniture.
Depending on the shape and size you can order cut to size glass (or perspex) tops for your tables etc. online including polished edges. I've done this for a coffee table in our lounge. Perhaps as the company is unable to provide the correct sized glass they could reimburse you if you order yourself? It's worth asking0 -
You may choose to accept some loss and move on to protect your stress, but if not then you can't conflate that with the claims against the company. I'd get quotes to remedy the issues from a 3rd party eg to swap out and fit the items that don't fit or are incorrectly supplied. THen write to them stating you expect an appointment for them to fix that list by x date, or will be getting them fixed and claim the cost from them.
Note don't bank on actually getting everything, but that's the starting point.
Also what do you mean by credit card and credit agreement - if there's additional parties in between then that may hamper, but if not you may be able to claim against the creditor as well.0 -
If you paid on a credit card you are covered by Section 75, just use the credit providers official complaint process, detail everything including g what you want and if they don’t resolve it in 8 weeks go to the ombudsman.
No need to let this drag out OP.In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces1 -
Thank you for the helpful responses.I haven’t claimed my additional private stress has anything to do with the furniture, that is a slightly uncalled for and unhelpful comment! It was merely to explain why I’m on here asking for help to reduce further stress. We paid this money NOT to have the stress of doing it ourselves and I don’t think it is unreasonable to expect a finished product that was promised and in a legally binding contract.Thank you, I have just contacted the credit card I paid the deposit with and the finance company they use.0
