Morning all. I'm off down to Glasgow for a birthday lunch with my late DM's crossword friend (those who were around four years ago will remember about him) who turned 80 on Monday. I've wrapped a wee selection of gifts for him including new slippers which he chose, a couple of paperbacks and some sweet things.
I hope that everyone is well.

Morning, thanks Gers
Hope you have a good journey to Glasgow, to meet up with your DM's friend- was it Alan?
It's hairdo day today for us, that's the main event today.
Still dark outside but looks dry.
I'm yawning my head off after a disturbed night, but I can't lie in, I've got to get up.At least I don't have to go to work!
Thoughts to the sad and poorly today, take care folks13 -
Morning folks and thanks GERS. Have a safe drive and happy birthday to the crossword man. I remember him well and his friendship with your DM. Not looked out yet as too dark to see what's happening out there but the forecast is much similar to the last few days. Dull, dry and a slim chance of snippets of sun this afternoon.
All was well with DF yesterday so met for lunch as usual. But yet again it was very busy and we are wondering whether to start meeting a bit later to let the worktime lunchers get back to work. Today should be bus trip day but my buddy has had to postpone it until next week as her DH has a medical appointment that she wants to go to with him as, thanks to his dementia, he can never remember what he has been told.
So a free day and no excuse not to resume a bit more tidying outside and a good sweep of the drive. Not only is it full of leaves there are also lots of conifer cuttings from next door's trimming of their huge hedging. They have someone to cut it but he never makes a good job of sweeping up after himself.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, sad or lonely. TEAPARTY MUM yesterday sounds a really nasty one for you so I hope today is a bit better. DP1 I hope DGD is recovering well. We seem to have lost NAN again, I hope all is ok with her. I know she was off in the caravan early September for a couple of weeks. Take care all, stay safe xx

Morning
Safe trip Gers - how lovely that you keep in touch with you DMs crossword friend. It’s grey again here but less damp and dismal - I might even get some of the things done I’ve been procrastinating about!
Need to pop to a local village and churchyard - promised my BF that lives in the Highlands that I keep an eye on her parent’s grave - just a quick tidy and wipe over to remove any bird deposits! I can combine thag with a dog walk.Last night’s dinner was another of our new country meals - Finland this time. I made Lohikeitto which is basically a creamy leek and potatoes soup with salmon and dill, very tasty and filling.Have a good day all

Morning all
Dry here but no sun and it’s chilly, I didn’t have a good night either so getting up was a struggle.
I’m off to see Matt today and hope he is in a better mood than last week ! I have a trial day with my new person tomorrow and if that goes well I shall put my notice in with him tomorrow, he is just too unpredictable
Dinner tonight will be pie mash and veg, I got the pies from Turners pies which is a local shop that makes the best pies ever, the owners son was on the apprentice a couple of years back I don’t think he won but he does make a good pie, I got OH a GF one.Shopping being delivered this evening I had a £10 off Waitrose voucher so used that, I have another one for next week, it does help at this time of year, I got another Birthday present (bottle of whisky) in the shopping too.
Gers safe trip and hope Alan ? Enjoys his presents xx
Have good days all and take care xx11 -
Morning all and thanks for the start @Gers x Safe journey to Glasgow and a Happy Birthday to Alan.I have a couple of appointments today. One is with my GP to discuss my hearing issue and possibly be referred to ENT. It’s at school run time and the surgery is next to two senior schools so I’ll have to leave early to make sure I’m not caught in traffic.I’m putting the last coat of paint on the bathroom woodwork today and if I have time I’ll also do the walls. I can’t reach the ceiling so that will be for DH.
Dinner is sweet potatoes loaded with smokey turkey chilli.Sorry that DGD has been poorly @dp1 - typical just as she’d reached that milestone with school. Sending hugs x
That soup sounds fab @AlwaysAllie but have just been distracted by @RedRuby1232’s pie!!
I too am wondering where @nannywindow has got to. Hope all okay x
Have a good day everyone

Morning all, dull but dry here. I haven't caught up with yesterdays news yet, will do when I get back from dogwalking. DH has a physio appt this morning- one he had to miss when we got covid, speaking of which my DB1 rang last night and they've got it now.Yesterday we went up to the retail park as I needed new walking boots, my feet were soaked yesterday after walking on the grass. DH wanted to have something to eat at the Italian cafe, which was the 1st time he's eaten out since his knee op so he really enjoyed it ( he didn't want any tea later@RedRuby1231, I hope your day with Matt is ok.Have a good trip to Glasgow @Gers, and hope Alan has a lovely 80th.Better get a move on, shopping delivery coming in an hour or so take care all.:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Morning everyone
I've been back at work the last couple of afternoons - it was nice to see everyone but I've been exhausted. I don't think having covid again has helped the long covid, but there's nothing much I can do other than pace myself.
Thanks for all the good wishes for little one, she is still on her feed and still really tired. She hasn't made it to school yet this week. She rang for a chat when I was home from work yesterday.
No work today, I'll go down to mam and dads for a cuppa this morning then across the road to my friends for one this afternoon.
I hope everyone has a good day today x11 -

Allotment this afternoon [ didn't make it yesterday], and then maybe some soup and a roll later on..Not a lot going on today..Yeah, nanny where are you again?
Gers, have a nice day and happy birthday to Alan too...Coxy, I admire you doing your painting! Ruby, fingers crosed for tomorrow...I feel for Matt but at the same time, not what you want to have that uncertainty over you all the time, will he kick off/won't he etc... Allie, that's a great idea, I might pinch thatbut yeah Coxy...pie...nomnom....TA, you could always ask the neighbour to clear it up your side too
snoozer, I did start looking at the Harts site but then got eye hurt , there's so much stuff! Hope you're acclimatising to the house now...Weenancy, how's it going with you ,and your room mates now? Yorkslass, well done on only one item going out, result! Izzy, not too bad in the plantar stakes, bit ropey in the ankle stakes but that's maybe because I've been on it a bit much...you know how it is
Pork pie...nom...you're another one with all the nice food too! Right, off to do stuff, or pretend to for a bit, have a good day all....

Morning all from dull and grey Mehefinland
It is that depressing time of year when everything is in change mode - except our weather seems stuck on bleugh! At least it's not raining here and doesn't look like it will until Sunday. Should be getting on finishing the outside painting ( got another lot y/day!!) but it is so cold and miserable I cba. A bit of sunshine would make all the difference!
I think this dose of food poisoning has wiped me out more than I initially thought - just can't seem to muster up any enthusiasm for much at all. It will pass!
Got a ticket for the next student Cafe Concert at Atlantic College on Friday, so at least that's something to look forward to. My new friend is away at a funeral, and then flies off to Australia for a month so I must make sure I don't mope around kicking my heels and do something positive. Council are putting up those big poppies on lamp posts on the weekend so I may help with that too. Got the local Air Cadets roped in as well
Farrier tomorrow and boiler service Friday - there's no end to the excitement chez Mehefin lol
Hugs to the poodles, and to anyone lese that wants or needs one.
Mehefin aka Derek

Good morning
Thank you for the start @Gers have a good trip to Glasgow
Not raining at the moment but it feels very cold. Trying not to turn the heating on until next month.
Not sleeping well so I don't have any energy, not much will get done today.
Take care
