United Trust Bank link on MSE site

I used the above link to open a 4.3% Savings account. The account is up and running but I am unable to access it online. I'm waiting for them to send me a Username and password.
It's now 2 days since I applied.
The account will close if I don't deposit anything within 28 days so I think I'm going to put my money elsewhere as this seems a long time to wait for accessing the account.
I just wanted to check here whether the link on MSE was reliable as the bank now has my details including my National Insurance number. Has anyone had any joy with getting online banking set up and how long did it take?

Is the Username/Password arriving by snail mail (hopefully in two separate mailings)? Usual timescale on those would be 5-ish (working) days.0

The last two "new" accounts I applied for where I was waiting for Username & Password/Pin, the 2 letters arrived in the same delivery courtesy of good old RM ... happened to both of the accounts but in different weeks. I doubt this was anything to do with the Bank/BS, more due to RM's hidden policy of one-letter-delivery-per-week-if-you're-luckyflaneurs_lobster said:Is the Username/Password arriving by snail mail (hopefully in two separate mailings)? This really does negate the Bank/BS security effort of sending the Username and pin out several days apart in different envelopes! 0 -
I didn't go via the MSE link, but I am still waiting for the details in snail mail 7 working days later (when applying, I chose the "no offers via email" option, and they seem to take this as "don't send the account details via email"). They've managed to text me that I haven't funded it yet. And told me twice at the time, via email, that I had a message waiting if I logged on. Which I couldn't. And it's not Royal Mail's delivery policy in my case - I've had multiple post deliveries over the 8 days (including the Saturday).
Since, a week after opening it, Cahoot produced the new Simple Saver Issue 13 with better interest, a lower minimum balance, and everything else basically even, I don't think I'll bother with UTB even if the post does turn up.0 -
Thank you all for your replies.
I owe an apology as I had actually received a letter with the username and p/w by email but came it with another one from UTB and I thought I'd opened both documents but hadn't.
@EthicsGradient I've now taken the leap and wished I hadn't after your experience - but thank you for the details of a similar account.0 -

Ah, now I understand - the email saying "Access your Document" for "your latest document" is not a suggestion to log on to the secure website where they normally run the accounts, with logon details they hadn't yet sent, it's a link to a separate system where you give characters from your NI number (that you gave them in the application) and they then show a letter with account number and sort code.
Maybe that's what UTBmarketing was telling me. If they're still reading, then an email with something more explicit about what they want you to do, and what it will achieve, would be more useful (since the "If you have not consented to email contact, your account details will be posted to your registered address instead" in the initial email can make you think 'just wait for the post'). Oh well. It looks like they withdrew the East Access account anyway, and the Cahoot one is better, so we'll just mutually agree to forget it.0
