Mattress with no offgassing

As per title. I am looking for a medium mattress, not too pricey but mainly with little or no smell from new.
I have heard people complain of some which have been unable to use for many weeks because of chemical smells. I don't know if that only refers to memory foam types but thought I would ask on the board for any advice. Thanks

You will not find one, the smell is the largely the fire retardants rather than anything else. A few people claim about weeks, but normally a couple of days is enough, which is how long you normally need to leave a mattress to properly expand and settle after being transported, ideally you want the room it is in to be well ventilated during that time, with no coverings on it.caveman38 said:As per title. I didn't notice any smell from our Harrison Spinks when it was new, possibly because it is made from natural materials. Harrison's aren't at the cheaper end of the market, but ours is now 10 years old and is still like new.1

I've never had an issue with smells from a new mattress. We usually buy Sealy ones0

all matresses etc i have purchased over the years have a strong smell, especially if it contains form, i actually seem to react to it and can feel it and get sort of hot if in contact with it.the smell/reaction subsides typically after a couple of days, but a set of pillows a got a few months ago took a good week or so.A recent duvet from Asda also recently caused me a reaction.0

Google Harrison Spink mattresses - wool and hemp filling, and cotton covers. No smelly foam layers and, as wool is naturally fire retardant, no nasty chemicals.
They are not cheap - but you get what you pay for. And you might get a deal with a sale price.
As for a duvet, we have a Baa-vet duvet. Wool filling, and cotton cover. Bliss, but cost quite a bit more than one made with polyester etc that had to be treated with fire retardant chemicals.0
