WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE? WIN A MILLION

WHAT IS WIN A MILLION?

Win a Million is the UK's hottest new prize draw brought to you in association with Sony Entertainment, creators of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? Players have 5 chances every week to win a variety of cash prizes, with a jackpot prize of £1,000,000 available to win in every draw. Yes, that's right -you really could win one million pounds for playing.

HOW TO PLAY WIN A MILLION

It's quick and easy to get started: Simply pick your number of entries for each draw, then we'll select five automatically generated lucky numbers for you. Rather select your own numbers? No problem - you can always change these later. For the £1 million jackpot, you must match 4 numbers and a bonus ball (out of 34) in the correct order with the numbers drawn. You can also win other cash prizes even if you only match one number. For a complete breakdown of prizes, head to our "What Can I Win" section.

Finally, choose your payment option - or play for free (read more below).

We use a GLI certified Random Number Generator operated by an independent trusted third party to run all prize draws and every draw is 100% fair and open to the public.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO PLAY WIN A MILLION FOR FREE?

Yes - there are flexible and affordable ways to play Win a Million, including:

  • Monthly Subscription: £10 per month - 20 entries (50p per entry)
  • Weekly Subscription: 5 entries for £3/week (60p per entry)

MORE WAYS TO WIN A MILLION

Players at winamillion.com are also eligible for our innovative refer a friend scheme. For every friend you refer you'll also win 100% of their cash prize if they win. And it gets even better than that. If they then refer a friend you'll win a further 50% of their cash prize if your friends friend wins. Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully to make sure you fully understand the content. By registering and creating a User Account, and each time you enter a Prize Draw, you confirm that you accept these Terms and Conditions. If you have any doubts about your rights and obligations resulting from the acceptance of these Terms and Conditions, please seek appropriate legal advice.

If you do not agree with any of the Terms and Conditions you should not continue to use the Website or App, create a User Account, enter any Prize Draws or use the Software.

We recommend that you print a copy of these Terms and Conditions for future reference.

    TERMS & CONDITIONS

The Website and App are directed to people residing in the United Kingdom only. We do not represent that content available on or through the Website is appropriate for use or available in other locations.

    The Promoter

    1. This Website and all Prize Draws contained therein are operated by the Promoter, and the Promoter is the official sponsor of each Prize Draw unless specified otherwise.

    How To Enter

    1. To validly enter a Prize Draw an Entrant must become a Registered User by completing all details required on the Website or App or signing in through one of the linked social media platforms, and then either:
      1. Purchase a Ticket(s) for entry into the Prize Draw via the Website or App (whether via subscription or otherwise) before the relevant time on the Closing Date;
      2. Submit a Prize Draw entry using the Postal Entry option in accordance with the requirements set out in section 4 below. A Postal Entry will be processed by the Promoter within three (3) working days of receipt and, once processed, will be entered into the next available Prize Draw.

    Postal Entries

    1. You may enter a Prize Draw for free by submitting a Postal Entry.
    2. A Postal Entry must:

      2. be sent on an unenclosed postcard; and

    3. Each Postal Entry must be contained on a separate postcard submitted in accordance with these Terms and Conditions. Any Postal Entries received as part of a bulk entry will not be entered into a Prize Draw.
    4. A valid Postal Entry received by the Promoter will be processed and entered into the next qualifying Prize Draw, which could be up to 3 working days after receipt by the Promoter. For example, where a valid Postal Entry is received after 8 pm on a Friday, it will be entered into the Wednesday Prize Draw (at the latest). Valid Postal Entries are entered into the Prize Draw alongside online entries. Valid Postal Entries are acknowledged via email.
    5. Postal Entries received on anything other than an unenclosed postcard will not be accepted. If the Entrant's User Account cannot be identified from the details provided on the Postal Entry (for example, the matching mobile phone number is missing), then the Prize Draw single entry will not be processed. Postal Entries without correct and sufficient postage paid will be invalid and will not be considered. Personal and hand deliveries, or any entries received not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions, will not be accepted.

Without limiting the preceding sentence, the Promoter shall be entitled to disqualify an Entry, refuse to pay a Prize and/or close or suspend a Registered User’s User Account if:

      2. fraudulent misrepresentation;
      3. fraudulent concealment;
      4. hacking or interference with the proper functioning of the Website; or
      5. amending, or unauthorised use of, any code that constitutes the Website.
    6. Entries on behalf of another private individual will not be accepted, and joint submissions are not allowed.
    7. Each individual Entrant may submit up to the maximum number of entries specified in total for any one particular Prize Draw, through any combination of Entries submitted via the Website or App and Postal Entries.

    Payment and Withdrawals

    1. You can only make payments to the Promoter by a Registered Payment Method. If your Registered Payment Method is a jointly owned bank account or joint debit card, you accept that all payments of winnings of £10,000 or less that we make to you from your User Account will be paid to that joint account or card. If your Registered Payment Method is a debit card, it can only be used on one User Account, and it must not have been reported as lost or stolen. If you believe your card has been lost or stolen and you wish to use a replacement card as your new Registered Payment Method, or you wish to change your Registered Payment Method while there are funds or pending Tickets in your User Account, you should contact our customer services team. The Promoter may require you to withdraw any existing funds and to wait for any pending Tickets to be completed before updating your Registered Payment Method. We reserve the right to perform such checks as we deem necessary to verify the ownership of the new Registered Payment Method before accepting it.
    2. We will only accept a Registered Payment Method that is a UK debit card linked to a UK bank account or building society. It is the cardholder’s responsibility to ensure that the Registered Payment Method complies with the requirements of these Terms and Conditions.
    3. You may withdraw any unused funds at any time by requesting a withdrawal within your User Account. Withdrawals will only be credited to your Registered Payment Method. If your Registered Payment Method has expired or is no longer active the funds will be retained within your User Account and you should contact us to process a withdrawal.

    Subscription

    1. The subscription services (Subscription Services) are offered only for your personal, non-commercial use, and not for the use or benefit of any third-party. We may, in our sole discretion, refuse to offer some or all of the Subscription Services to any potential customer.

    2. To become a subscriber (Subscriber), visit the Website and select the appropriate button on the enter webpage. Follow the instructions to enter your full, legal name, contact and payment information, and complete your payment information. Your use of the Subscription Services (Membership) will include receiving at least 5 entries per week for £3.00 (£0.60 per entry) or 20 entries a month for £10 (£0.50 per entry) depending on your selection at sign up.

    3. All fees in connection with a Subscriber’s Membership will, unless expressly stated otherwise below, be charged to the Subscriber at the time of the initial subscription and the beginning of the billing cycle. A ‘billing cycle’ is every four weeks from the initial invoice date. For example: if a Subscriber subscribes on a Friday, then the Subscriber will be charged the Membership Fees on that Friday and again in a further four weeks from that Friday, and will be entered into and receive the applicable set number of entries into each applicable Prize Draw during the billing cycle.

      1. You have a legal right to change your mind and cancel the Membership contract between you and us within 14 days of entering into the Membership contract without giving a reason. The cancellation period will expire 14 days from the day on which the Membership contract is entered into.

      2. If you wish to access the Subscription Services under the Membership contract during the cancellation period then you may do so but you expressly agree that we may begin to supply the Subscription Services to you during the cancellation period and you acknowledge that, once the first Prize Draw under your Membership contract has been completed, your right to cancel the Membership contract under applicable consumer law will be lost and you are not entitled to any refund under those cancellation rights

      3. Where your right to cancel has not been lost, then to exercise the right to cancel, you must inform us of your decision to cancel the Membership contract with us by making a clear statement. The easiest way to do this is to contact us at support@winamillion.com. You may use the following model cancellation form but you are not required to do so:

      4. To meet the cancellation deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning the exercise of your right to cancel before the cancellation period has expired. We will send you an acknowledgement of receipt of your notice to cancel.

      5. Subject to (b) above and(f) below, if you cancel the Membership contract with us during the cancellation period, we will reimburse you all payments received from you.

      6. If you wish to cancel during the cancellation period then we will only reimburse you for any portion of the Subscription Services not performed prior to you notifying us of your intention to cancel. This means that your cancellation and reimbursement right is lost once the first Prize Draw under your Membership contract has been completed.

      7. We will make the reimbursement without undue delay, and not later than 14 days after the day on which we are informed about your decision to cancel the Membership contract using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction. You will not incur any fees as a result of the reimbursement.

    4. After the cancellation period, a Subscriber may still cancel their Membership at any time by accessing their account settings and following the cancellation process before the next billing cycle. Once a subscription is cancelled, the cancellation will take effect at the start of the following billing cycle, and no further charges will be applied. Subscribers who cancel their Membership after the cancellation period will not receive a refund for the current subscription period. Access to the current week’s Prize Draws and the applicable Tickets will remain available until the end of the current subscription period.

    5. We may cancel your Membership contract in the following circumstances:

      1. immediately on notice to you if you are in breach of these Terms and Conditions or applicable law (in which case we will not refund any Membership fees); or
      2. at any time by giving you at least seven days’ notice in writing. If we exercise this right we shall refund you a portion of the Membership Fee paid by you, calculated on a pro rata basis, reflecting the number of Prize Draws for which you would have been eligible to participate in notwithstanding the termination of your Membership.

      1. Four (4) numbers between 1 and 34 inclusive; and
      2. One (1) bonus number between 1 and 34 inclusive.
    2. The draw to determine the Winner(s) of a Prize Draw will, where applicable, will be made on the Draw Date.
    3. The Promoter will not extend the Closing Date for any Prize Draw unless it is strictly necessary to do for reasons outside the Promoter’s reasonable control.
    4. Unless otherwise specified in the description under a Prize Draw, there is no Reserve Level, and the Prize will always be given away as soon as practicable after the Draw Date.
    5. The Prize Draw uses a certified RNG provided by PIMS-SCA Ltd, a global leader in prize insurance and risk management services, to ensure fairness and randomness.
    6. Unless otherwise stated on the Website or the App, there will five (5) Prize Draws per week on each of Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
    7. The Promoter shall take all reasonable steps to ensure and preserve the random nature of the Prize Draw in accordance with Applicable Law relevant to the administration of the Prize Draws. Subject to the above, the Promoter may operate the Prize Draw in any reasonable way and may change the Prize Draw process at any time (subject always to compliance with Applicable Law). The result(s) of the Prize Draw is final, and the Promoter shall not enter into any correspondence in relation to the same.

    Winners and Prizes

    1. The Winner(s) for each Prize Draw will be determined and awarded the relevant Prize(s) as specified on the Website in accordance with these Terms and Conditions and any specific additional terms of the relevant Prize Draw.

    2. In order to win a Prize the numbers shown on your Entry must match the same numbers and in the same sequences as those generated by the RNG during the Prize Draw as recorded by the Promoter.

    3. Subject to section 42 and 43 below, the Prizes will be as indicated on the Website or App at the time of Entry. However, by way of example only the Prizes are expected to be as follows:

      • 4 numbers + 1 bonus number in the correct order (Jackpot) wins £1,000,000.
      • 4 numbers in the correct order wins £10,000.
      • 3 numbers in the correct order wins £200.
      • 2 numbers in the correct order wins £2.
      • 1 number in the correct order wins £1.
    4. In the event that there is more than one Winner of a Jackpot in a Prize Draw the Jackpot Prize will be divided equally between the Winners, subject to the rules set out in section 43 below. For example, subject to section 43, if Player A and Player B both win the Jackpot in the same Prize Draw, each of Player A and Player B will win an amount equal to 50% of the stated Jackpot Prize. This section 42 only applies to the Jackpot Prize and does not affect any other prize tier.

    5. In the event that a Referrer who has entered using a Free Entry is a Winner of the Jackpot then the Prize will be increased, as follows:

      1. If a First Level Referrer is a Winner but there is no Second Level Referrer, the Jackpot will be increased so that the First Level Referrer and their Referee each receive an amount equal to the Jackpot Prize that would have been won by the Referee had the Free Entry not been granted. For example:
        1. Player A is a First Level Referrer for Player B and is granted a Free Entry under the Referral Scheme. The Jackpot Prize for the relevant Prize Draw is £1,000,000. Player A and Player B are the only two Winners of the Jackpot Prize. The level of the Jackpot Prize is increased to £2,000,000, and both Player A and Player B receive £1,000,000 each.
        2. Player A is a First Level Referrer for Player B and is granted a Free Entry under the Referral Scheme. The Jackpot Prize for the relevant Prize Draw is £1,000,000. Player A and B are Winners of the Jackpot Prize. Player C also independently selected the same numbers as Player B, and is also a Winner of the Jackpot Prize. The level of the Jackpot Prize is increased to £1,500,000. Player A, Player B and Player C each receive £500,000.
      2. If a First Level Referrer and a Second Level Referrer are both Winners, the Jackpot will be increased so that (i) the First Level Referrer and their Referee each receive an amount equal to the Jackpot Prize that would have been won by the Referee had the Free Entry not been granted; and (ii) the Second Level Referrer receives an amount equal to 50% of the Jackpot Prize that would have been won by the Referee had the Free Entry not been granted. For example:
        1. Player A is a Second Level Referrer for Player B. Player B is a First Level Referrer for Player C. Both Players A and B receive Free Entries under the Referral Scheme. The Jackpot Prize for the relevant Prize Draw is £1,000,000. Players A, B and C are all Winners of the Jackpot Prize. The level of the Jackpot Prize is increased to £2,500,000. Player A receives £500,000 and Players B and C each receive £1,000,000.
        2. Player D also independently selected the same numbers as Player C and is also a Winner of the Jackpot Prize. The level of the Jackpot Prize is increased to £1,750,000. Player A receives £250,000. Players B, C and D each receive £500,000.
    6. Only Entries which match the same numbers in the same sequence as the numbers drawn during the Prize Draw will be eligible to win a Prize. For example, if an Entrant selects 1, 2, 3 and 4, with bonus ball 5, and the RNG used for the Prize Draw returns 2, 1, 3 and 4, with bonus ball 27, the Entrant would have matched 2 numbers in the correct order (‘3’ and ‘4’) and would be eligible to win £2.

    7. Subject to these Terms and Conditions, the odds will normally be as follows:

      • All five Winning Numbers (4 numbers + 1 bonus number), all in the same sequence as the draw (Jackpot) | £1 million | The odds are 1 in 33,390,720.
      • Four Winning Numbers all in the same sequence as the draw (Jackpot) | £10,000 | The odds are 1 in 1,113,024.
      • Three Winning Numbers all in the same sequence as the draw (Jackpot) | £200 | The odds are 1 in 8,976.
      • Two Winning Numbers all in the same sequence as the draw (Jackpot) | £2 | The odds are 1 in 187.
      • One Winning Number in the same sequence as the draw (Jackpot) |£1 | The odds are 1 in 8.5.
    8. The Promoter will contact a Winner as soon as reasonably practicable after the Prize Draw using the contact details contained in the Winner’s User Account or which were submitted with the Postal Entry.

    9. The Promoter will be in no way liable for any failure or inability to make contact with any Winner due to any errors, omissions or inaccuracies in the contact details provided by the Winner or otherwise.

    10. The Promoter will make all reasonable efforts to contact a Winner. If a Winner cannot be contacted, or has not claimed their Prize within 30 days of the Prize Draw, the Promoter reserves the right to not award the Prize.

    11. Where the Promoter is to award a Prize over £200, or suspects that these Terms and Conditions have not been adhered to, the Winner(s) may be required to forward personal identification to the Promoter to prove their identity, that their Entry was made in accordance with these Terms and Conditions, and that there is no lawful impediment (pursuant to any Applicable Law) to the Winner(s) being awarded any Prize in the relevant Prize Draw. In the event that the Promoter reasonably believes that there may be a lawful impediment to awarding a Prize to a Winner(s) (including a breach of these Terms and Conditions), the Promoter may suspend making such award until the legal issue is resolved.

    12. Prize(s) cannot be substituted for any Prize(s) of equivalent value, such as a non-cash valued prize.

    13. The Promoter reserves the right to remove a Prize from the Website at any time with notice provided on the Website (prior to the applicable Prize Draw taking place), and in the rare event that this occurs, will refund all Entry Fees paid, or the equivalent amount spent on a Postal Entry, to that Prize Draw to the Registered User’s User Account.

    Personal Data

    1. In order to set up a User Account, you will be asked to provide certain information including phone number, email and name. You will also be required to submit certain information to submit a Postal Entry, as set out further below. This information will be processed in accordance with these Terms and Conditions and the Promoter’s Data Protection and Privacy Policy. The Promoter’s relevant payment providers may require additional information, such as the Entrant’s postcode and card payment details. Once the purchase order for the Prize Draw is submitted, the Registered User's card payment will be electronically approved.
    2. The personal information will be used for the following purposes:
      1. to notify any Winner(s) that they have won a Prize in a Prize Draw or a Potential Winner that they have matched the Prize Draw numbers and may be required to provide proof of identity;
      2. to administer the Website, and conduct the Prize Draw; and
      3. after a Prize Draw, to post the surname, town/county of residence and profile image of the Winner(s) or other provided photo on the Website, and in media communications about Prize Draws. If you object to any or all of your surname, town/county and profile image being published or made available, please contact the Promoter. Where we do not obtain consent, we may still use your personal information for marketing purposes in an anonymised format (such as the use of your initials and town/county of residence). In such circumstances, the Promoter must still provide the information and winning entry to the Advertising Standards Authority on request.

    Referral Scheme

    1. A Registered User (Referrer) may refer a person who is not a Registered User (Referee) using the referral code displayed in the Registered User’s User Account. A Registered User may refer any number of people using that referral code. In the event that more than one Registered User refers the same Referee, the Referrer for the purposes of these Terms and Conditions will be the Registered User whose referral code is used by the Referee and recorded by the Promoter at the point at which the Referee signs up for a User Account. The Promoter’s referral records will be final.

    2. A Referrer will be a First Level Referrer in respect of the Referee who uses their referral code. A Referrer may also be a Second Level Referrer where a Referee also refers a further player in accordance with these Terms and Conditions. For example:

      1. Player A refers Player B and Player B refers Player C. Player A will be a First Level Referrer in respect of Player B, and a Second Level Referrer in respect of Player C. Player B will be a First Level Referrer in Respect of Player C.
      2. If Player C also then refers Player D, Player A will be a First Level Referrer in respect of Player B, and a Second Level Referrer in respect of Player C. Player B will be a First Level Referrer in Respect of Player C and a Second Level Referrer in respect of Player D. Player C will be a First Level Referrer in respect of Player D. However, Player A is not a Referrer in respect of Player D and has no connection to Player D for the purposes of this Referral Scheme.
    3. Registered Users will be able to view confirmation of their status as a Referrer or Referee under the User Account page.

    4. Provided the conditions set out in the remainder of these Terms and Conditions are met, a First Level Referrer and Second Level Referrer (if applicable) will each be granted an entry, treated as fully paid, to certain draws which a Referee or Second Level Referee (as applicable) also enter (Free Entry) in acknowledgement of the referral. This Free Entry will be granted automatically and will match the numbers selected by the Referee or Second Level Referee (as applicable).

    5. A Free Entry may be awarded to a Referrer in the following circumstances:

      1. Where the Referee is a Subscriber, then in respect of the first Prize Draw that is entered into by the Referee as part of their subscription, and each subsequent Prize Draw that takes place on the same day of the week whilst the Referee’s subscription is active, provided that in no circumstances will more than 1 Free Entry will be awarded per week;
      2. Where the Referee purchases one or more single Entries, then in respect of the Draw for which the Referee has purchased an Entry, provided that in no circumstances will more than 1 Free Entry be awarded per week.
    6. In order to be awarded a Free Entry, a Referrer must:

      1. Purchase an Entry to a Draw which takes place not more than seven days prior to the date of the Draw for which the Referrer may be eligible for a Free Entry; or
      2. Have an active Subscription on the date of the Draw for which the Referrer may be eligible for a Free Entry. For example, Player A refers Player B. Player A purchases an Entry on the 1st of the month. Player B purchases an Entry on the 3rd of the month. Because Player A purchased an Entry not more than 7 days before Player B’s Entry, Player A is eligible to receive a Free Entry.
    7. Postal Entries, bonus Entries or any other form of free Entry will not be valid Entries for the purposes of section 59 above. This has no impact on the eligibility of any person to win a Prize in any Prize Draw, as bonus Entries and Postal Entries are treated in exactly the same way as paid Entries for the purpose of awarding Prizes.

    8. A Referrer will be notified of a Free Entry via email within 24 hours of the Prize Draw.

    9. Without prejudice to its right to suspend or close a Registered User’s User Account set out in section 13, the Promoter will be entitled to suspend a Referrer's referral network where the Referrer has not purchased an Entry or held an active Subscription for a period of 60 days or more. A Referrer whose referral network has been suspended in accordance with this section will not be eligible to receive any Free Entries during the period of any such suspension, even if they subsequently purchase an Entry or renew their Subscription. The Promoter retains the right to reactivate any suspended network in its sole discretion.

    10. The Promoter reserves the right to remove, amend or otherwise alter any referral reward schemes at any time without notice and in its sole discretion, including without limitation where the Promoter reasonably believes that a Referrer or Referee has opened multiple accounts, has coordinated with another person to generate additional referral benefits or has sought to circumvent the eligibility requirements for the Referral Scheme set out in these Terms and Conditions.

    11. Referrers will engage in transactions as independent principals, not as agents of the Promoter.

    Bonus Entries

    1. Bonus entries may be offered to Registered Users for entry into Draws from time to time.
    2. Bonus entries are personal, non-transferable and may not be redeemed for any cash value.
    3. Any unused bonus entries will automatically expire on the date falling six (6) months after they are awarded. All bonus entries shall automatically expire simultaneously (without any value whatsoever) on the closure of a Registered User’s User Account, whatever the reason.

Insofar as is permitted by law, the Promoter, its agents, distributors and licensors will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate any Entrant or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of submitting an Entry or Postal Entry, or in relation to the use and enjoyment of a Prize by the Winner(s) gained through any Prize Draws, except where death or personal injury is caused by the negligence or fraud of the Promoter, or that of their agents, distributors, or employees. Your statutory rights are not affected.

    Interesting.

I think the odds of winning one million are  one in 34x33x32x31x30 = 1 in 33,390,720 (a probability of 2.99484e-8)

I believe the probability of winning at least £1,000,000 on Lotto is 1/
    7,509,578 + 1/45,057,473= 1.55357e-7.

If instead of paying £2 for two tickets on Winamillion, one bought one Lotto ticket, one would be  approximately 2.59 times as likely to win at least a million.

and the Lotto ticket brings the chance of more than a million. Also, I understand the £1,000,000 Lotto second prize would never be shared, but the Winamillion prize would be, if two people ever got the same answer. A one in
1,114,940,182,118,400 chance. I wonder if the world would still exist by then.

(This is interesting. I am old enough to remember when that was called 1,114 billion in this country, (bi because there were two groups of six zeros) before we followed the less rational American, short scale system.

    1.114 billiard, 1.114 quadrillion American.)

If one subscribes to Winamillion and gets 4 tickets for £2, I believe one is still approximately 1.3 times more likely to win at least £1,000,000 on Lotto.

I quite enjoy doing sums, and hope I got this right, but would love someone to prove I am wrong; or right.

(Of course, if one only has £1 to spend, then Winamillion would be the only option.

or one could save 13p by buying a 87p stamp for the “free” entry method, if one has a spare piece of card.)
