Recommendations from low energy users
Hi!
I've had my head in the sand for far too long since my zero SC tariff ended with BG some years ago.
I use 800-900 Kwh/annum of gas & 800 Kwh/annum of electricity and currently don't have a smart meter (yes I know...)
Is anyone in the MSEvers an equally low user and can recommend a good supplier and competitive tariff?
Thanks

That is low, very low, to the point that I want to ask - are you sure?
Answering your question, in January I believe we should have some low standing charge deals - so have a look then.
You use on average 3kWh a day, so about 70p and standing charge is very close to that - so that should be your goal.1 -

I had them wrong way round - now corrected. Since I've been a flatbased dweller my annual usage has hovered around the same - I use on average 2Kwh of electricity per day (3Kwh if using my WM) & gas about the same if not less as hot water is on for less than 30 minutes/day and in summer I only need to use it for hot water every other day.

I’m a low user too with Octopus
Electric 550kWh and gas 3050kWh
I do comparisons but when my standing charges costs more than my unit cost theres not a lot you can save.
I stick with Octopus due to no exit fees just in case a miracle comes along one day

I don't read this section of the forum much, so it might have been covered a lot already. I entered a contract with Ovo that provided a discounted standing charge if I also signed up to their boiler cover/service. Since I already pay for boiler cover/service, it worked really well, as that cost of that hasn't materially changed, but my domestic fuel bill has materially fallen.0

Looks like the zero standing charge tariffs coming in January will exclude very low users (not sure if they will be excluded in reality or charged the minimum usage amount), a good supply of Vaseline is probably the best thing low users can invest in when dealing with the likes of Ofgem who aren't interested in supporting Green users who hammer down their usage. Sometimes companies offer low s/c 12 mth fixes with lowered standing charges but they often have terrible customer service but are usually highlighted as such on this site.3
