Worth checking this out. It doesn’t pay commission to MSE etc so doesn’t get a lot of attention, but it’s way cheaper than the MSE Big Switch recommendations. Saved £300 on a gas switch, and that was from a pretty competitive Octopus fix.

    Interesting.
We use about 2000kWh/yr of electriciy, 9000kWh/yr of gas.
In my region (Southern) Ecotricity are offering:
    • Electricity: 22.88p/kWh, 45.45p/day
    • Gas: 4.68p/kWh, 50.68p/day
    • Exit fee: £75 er fuel
    • Annual cost: £1229.64
    Octopus's current 12-month fix is:
    • Electricity: 25.27p/kWh, 43.66p/day
    • Gas: 5.71p/kWh, 32.52p/day
    • Exit fee: nil
    • Annual cost: £1297.50
So, a small saving for me vs. the current Octopus fix.
The gas unit rate is 1p/day lower but the standing charge is an extra 18p/day, so youd need to use more than 6500kWh/yr before there's any saving on gas.
For electricity, the break-even is around 300kWh/yr, so most people would save something.

Yes, it's particularly advantageous to high users of gas. It's saving us about £300 for the year.

Yep - no good for me because of that enormous standing charge - my current fix which is good until next year is at a 28.XX SC so realistically for my 7000kWh-ish P/a gas use the best I could hope for would be to break even, but in reality I suspect it would actually cost more. My current fix is good through to July and right now I can see myself sitting there until that ends!
