Cabot Financial

Hello
I have received a letter from Cabot Financial stating they have bought an outstanding debt from Santander. I had a credit card with Santander in 2015 and as far as I am aware have nothing outstanding on the card. I haven't used it for c.8 years. I have never been chased or received an outstanding statement from Santander. I no longer have the card. I moved house last year and never updated this with Santander, however the Cabot letter has come to my new address. My title on the letter is incorrect. This doesn't feel right? They are only asking for £112.25, but I am worried about calling them or engaging online. Any advise welcome! Thanks

I am not a lawyer, but this sounds an awful lot like a scam. I would suggest contacting Santander for clarity and, while you're at it, informing them of your new address.1

Cabot are a bona-fide organisation - it could be that the Santander Account had 1p outstanding and a combination of Interest and Fees has come up with this amount.
Most people will say you need to send Cabot a "Prove It" letter and ask for a copy of the credit agreement this refers to.1
