Delayed at airpot - Travel insurance won't pay out

Hi, I'm feeling quite overwhelmed. I had a Ryanair flight to Tenerife early on 24 September at Stansted. I arrived in plenty of time but the airport weren't letting anyone through into security - we learnt later that there had been a small fire in one of the terminal lounges. After about two hours they let us through and while waiting I could see that my flight had left. I have a Silver Plus annual multi-trip travel insurance from Coverwise (worldwide) but they won't allow the claim as it wasn't the airline's fault, it wasn't a mechanical fault and there wasn't a strike. Is there anything I can do to claim back the cost of my holiday? It was booked as a package through lastminute.com but I can't connect to a real person through them. The total was about £970 for the flights and hotel and then I also paid £98 for airport parking. I've never had to claim on travel insurance before and can't believe that I'm in this situation - I really thought I'd be covered for this.

Did you eventually fly, or did the whole holiday get aborted?SnickerSnacker said:Hi, I'm feeling quite overwhelmed. I had a Ryanair flight to Tenerife early on 24 September at Stansted. No, didn't think to try the airport. Is there anything they can do?DE_612183 said:Have you spoken to the airport - what do they say?0 -
It got aborted. Ryanir offered a flight for the Friday (two days later) but that would have only given me 48 hours away so I didn't take them up on it.Grumpy_chap said:

Don't know - but it's their problem so they should know how to sort it and who you need to complain / claim against - there will probably be others affected like you....SnickerSnacker said:
