Morning, thanks Gers.
Seems to be dry out there, as was yesterday. There was a cold wind though.
Spent most of the day in the kitchen yesterday - dd had
given us a big carrier bag full of apples, so we peeled, chopped, then cooked them. I froze them in 1lb portions. There's still some stored in the shed, they can stay there, it's cool and dry.
I made other stuff for the freezer, including a bag of rubbed in pastry, it's handy to have. Finished off with 2 different kinds of biscuits , then I stopped, I'd had enough! Didn't freeze the biscuits, they'll go quickly.
We had gone to a local drama performance here on Saturday afternoon, where I won the raffle, it was an arrangement of fresh fruit, very nice too. The strange thing was, at their production a year ago, I won the raffle prize which was, you've guessed it, an arrangement of fresh fruit!! I never win anything usually.
So all in all its been a fruity weekend!
There are 2 limes in the fruit arrangement, I was wondering about making lime curd. I know you can use them in Asian style cookery but I can't eat anything that 'sharp', I have digestive problems. I make lemon curd and that usually turns out well.
Not much on today except the usual chores. I've got some mince defrosting, it'll be shepherd's pie tonight I think.
I haven't read back yet, but hope everyone is all right.
Take care folks14 -
Morning allHate these dark mornings, seemed to take ages for it to brighten up this morning.Putting the breadmaker on later then have some bedding to hang out. Might do a bit more weeding later as I'm feeling up to it now after lounging around for the last few days. Still coughing though and wasn't impressed with being woken up aat 3am with a bout of it. Went and coughed in the bathroom so I didn't wake DH!Hope everyone has a good day x12

Morning All
Still dark out but looks like it's been raining a bit. Yesterday's sunshine didn't arrive so the washing was brought in. I cleaned the pulley and put most of it on there as the dehumidifier was on and it dried really quickly, need to make it work if it's using the electricity!
Dinner at DD's was lovely, a mushroom, leek and seitan pie with roasted veggies, could have eaten more but too much and I would have been up all night! We had a board game after and of course I came last! Really glad I went instead of staying in and feeling sorry for myself.
A friend and I are going to Berwick Upon Tweed today to stay overnight, can't wait for a walk along one of the lovely beaches, we may go over to the Holy Isle as she has never been - I love going over the causeway but must remember to leave in plenty of time!
Well done prepping all the apples Scarlet and congrats on the raffle win.
Hope the girls managed the walk TA.
Hope the alarm company can find the fault Ruby.
Have a good day, hope everyone is well. Take care. XX11 -
Morning all and thanks for the start @Gers x
I’m attending a Jobs Fair this morning - haven’t heard from DSis’s pal so I’m covering all bases. I will drop off a charity donation and some soft plastics/batteries at the same time. This afternoon will be spent painting the bathroom woodwork, walls and ceiling plus there’s washing to do. Dinner is tagliatelle carbonara using up some gammon from the freezer.Have a great time in Berwick Upon Tweed @camelot1001 - it’s on my wish list to go to the Holy Island.I too have a carrier bag of apples to prep @ScarletRibbons - did chuckle at the raffle wins. People will think it’s rigged!
Glad you’re feeling brighter @Chrisca50 and @dp1Have a good day everyone

Morning all
thanks for the start Gers
i don’t think I posted over the weekend - no idea why - not a lot to say! It’s been chilly here, and yesterday was foggy then misty and today looks similar - that is my absolute least favourite type of weather!
Plenty to do as usual though less inclined for the outdoors jobs when it’s like this. Have a charity shop and tip run booked for next week and really feeling like getting rid of some stuff so will keep popping things in boxes to go. Found a few decent clothing items and have listed those for sale with one sold already so some packing up to do too.Hope everyone has a good start to the week.AA14 -
Morning everyone thanks for the start Gers I’m meeting my friend this morning for a coffee and a catch up Camelot enjoy Berwick holy island is one of my favourite places go in plenty of time check the tide times we like to be first ones over you feel like you have the island to yourself perfect peace and there won’t be as many people there at this time of the year .well done scarlet lots of prepping going on there . Chirsca pleased you are feeling a bit better I’m another that hates dark morning’s in fact I hate the dark nights. A girl I know had some trees cut down in her garden she got them to cut them in to logs so I have them to pick up today me and the hubby will go this afternoon there’s enough to last me a couple of weeks but they won’t be ready to use until next year but I’m grateful she thought of me it will save me a bit of money. Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing13

Morning again - I too don't like these dark starts to the day, or the dark end of them.Whilst I didn't change the bedding yesterday as I planned I did it this morning so the WM is now chugging away merrily. There wasn't anything which stopped me doing the bed, just CBA really.
Not that anything more urgent took its place.
This morning I've got my exercise class, haven't been for about three weeks so it'll be a stretch to do the heavier weights so will dumb the dumbells down. I'll get the washing out on the line when back.My English nephew has his birthday, same day as my beloved late DFather who would have been 110 years, and the birthday of my beloved late DMother's crossword friend who turns 80 years old. Busy old day for cards!Have a fab time in Berwick and Lindisfarne @Camelot. Hope the weather stays fine for you. Good luck at the job fair @Coxy.Hugs to all.14 -
Morning all
Dry here but feels chilly I have a wash on the go and it can be hung on the line later.
Off to mums this morning to do some work I might start on her sewing room today which is a bit of a dumping ground and needs a good sort out, last week I did her utility room which looks much better now.
Dinner tonight will be gnocchi in a tomato sauce with some garlic bread, we were meant to have it last week but didn’t fancy it then, I cleaned the freezer / fridge out yesterday and hundreds of tiny beads were all over both 🙄 I pulled the FF out and cleaned behind it too, I am still finding beads now and I’m sure I will be for months 😂
I did a bit of Christmas shopping yesterday and some Birthday gifts, a lot of our family have birthdays in Nov and Dec, I think I have all the main gifts now and just need stocking fillers I want to try and get the majority of it done by November.
Coxy good luck at the job fair xx
Have good days all and take care xx13 -
Morning all, thanks Gers.I felt like I spent the afternoon in the kitchen too Scarlet. Decided to use the main oven for roasties and the apple crumbles- not used it since last Cmas. The roasties seemed to take a long time though. We had a nice walk through some woods and by a fishing lodge, DH did really well considering some of it was a bit hilly, he was shattered after though. We caught up on the 2nd episode of celeb traitors which we are enjoying, and then 2 episodes of 24 ,which we are rewatching right from the begining.I think it'll be shepherds pie for us too tonight. Right I'd better get Ldog out for his 1st walk of the day. Hope you poorlies start to feel better soon,:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)12

Morning folks and thanks GERS. It's a gloomy start here too, it matches my mood. No fog today but no sun either. Yesterday's fog had cleared early up here and we left for the sm in blazing sunshine. But a shock to the system driving down to town as we descended into thick fog which still shrouded the town. The sm was very quiet so I guess the fog had put a lot of folk off until it cleared.
I got an update from DD about the starlight hike on Saturday, with lots of photos. It had been a good turn out yet again and last I heard she had got up to £575 in donations. It will be a few days before they announce the accumulated donations of all those taking part.
No plans for today, a day of same old same old doing bits of this and that, whatever appeals (probably not a lot!) Take care all, have a nice day if you can, with ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, sad or lonely. xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"13
