Allow for the higher stamp duty if you are buying to let, even though you don’t own any other property it still applies.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. If you are looking to make money and are able to do the work yourself why would you buy a questionable property rather than one that requires refurb?
You will face the same problems selling in the future as you are facing now and it is also likely that a lender will baulk at lending on property with no sign off
This and previous government are making things more difficult for small landlords so many are selling up.1
