Buying a house

Me and my wife currently live in a housing association flat, She is here on a spouse visa and works full time.

We are thinking of buying a house in the future but i wanted to know if we will be asked to leave the housing association flat?

She is only on the tenancy as a household member and the tenancy is in my name.

why would you be asked to leave?

presumably you would be buying a house for yourselves so would leave at that point anyways.  or are you saying you might buy a house to rent out?

You will only need to leave once you have purchased a house, you won’t be kicked out just because you are looking to buy.

I just assumed that if me or my partner own a property we would not be entitled to social housing.
We wont be moving there straight away and wont be renting it out fully my father would be living there and a lodger.

Yeah i know that but my main question is would my wife be able to purchase a house and we would still be able to live in the HA flat?
i am the tenancy holder for the HA and not my wife

Buy a house and continue living in the flat for the time being.

If you own your own house that you could live in, then you shouldn't be still living in a council flat, as it will be needed for people waiting for accommodation who may currently be homeless. Council housing is for people who can't afford private rental or to buy their own place.

Tricky one, never heard that asked before, some people I have met with HA tenancies secretly look down on people struggling away to clear mortgage debt I think, why not invest in the stock market instead?
