macbook safari web page resets to the top of page

When I am browsing a wesite that needs me to scroll to see the full page, ie an auction website etc that I have to scroll down, if I click on another tab when the page is scrolled part way down it goes back to the top of the page when I go back to it unless I click the scrolling page before viewing another tab, my previous macbook didnt do this, I am using a 2020 air on sequoia
