Izzy, do your poa yourself, it's pretty straightforward unless you have complicated finances. You only need to pay the Govt fees then.
I've been absent for a while although reading, I'm still getting used to being without the family and also dealing with a few health problems. The family seem to be settling in, Esben and Esther are happy in their new school and nursery and Laura has her practice up and running. We've been down a couple of times and they came back for a weekend as well.
We're redecorating the living room, putting down wooden flooring and have bought a new settee. It's strange to be erasing the evidence of the children.
Have a good day.11 -
Thanks for starting us off today @Gers and a very good morning to one and all. Last night was quite chilly with a sunset of pink tinged clouds and this morning's dew was all too evident on the grass and tops of cars - autumn is well and truly underway. "My" cherry tree is now practically bare with just a few leaves hanging on for dear life. Not much change in the weather for today - dry, a mixture of cloud and sunny intervals, a gentle breeze and top temps once again around the 16 deg mark, although they're set to plunge down to 5 deg tonight.
Yesterday was a so-so day with the usual housework tasks punctuated by taking in a parcel for my NDN that she collected when she got home from work. Friday admin day today but first up is a walk to the Co-op for odds and ends since it didn't happen yesterday or the day before. I have a bag of soft plastics to take for their recycling bin; I'll also take a detour to the Little Free Library with a couple of returns and of course a browse to see if there's anything of interest to borrow. Tea tonight is a chilli, lime & ginger coated fish fillet with banana & custard for afters.
@lilian1977 - Hello, welcome to the thread.
@Gers - Congratulations to your friends, I hope they have a lovely and memorable day.
@-taff - Loving the apple corer tip! I hope the plumbers get done asap so you can have some heating on.
To all those sneezing, coughing etc (too many to mention individually!) look after yourselves and try to make time for some TLC.
Take care all and enjoy the day. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.10 -
Morning all, thanks Gers, glad you enjoyed the show & hope you & your friends have a lovely day. Welcome Lilian & Topher and any others who care to join us.Glad you enjoyed your trip to Germany @-taffThinking of you @YorksLass, hugs for you at this time of year.@Snoozer , I remember feeling like you when DS2 and the DGC moved out ( although he only had the DGC part time), it felt very quiet.Ruby well done on your new job.Yesterday turned out busier than anticipated. DH drove us to a woodland trust car park, quite near , we popped Ldog in the car and went for a walk. It's the 1st time since the op that we've walked anywhere but the park at the top of the road so it made a nice change. DH was tired after but managed well- no sticks in sight.I made some more cards in the afternoon. We had a day off the school run, or so we thought
, DS2 rang to say the school footie team was in a cup match and he'd pick us up in 10 mins if we wanted to watch. Ok then
It was nice because we talked to some of the mums/grandparents I'd got to know when DGS was at primary school, and haven't seen since the summer break.Don't really see them now, a lot of the kids live close by so walk home.We had a beef stir fry when we got back, DH started it off & I took Ldog for his late walk so it was nearly done when we got back. Watched the England v Wales match afterwards. It's just started drizzling here.Hope everyone has a good day.:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Morning all
Dry here but chilly again I have a wash about to finish and that can be hung on the line for a while.
Thanks for the comments re the new job I haven’t officially accepted yet but I’m sure I will, I am going for a trial day Thursday just to meet them properly and sort out the details, I will also then hand my notice in with Matt once I have accepted. He was fine with me yesterday, his mum was in a long online meeting about his placement - almost 4 hours and he and I made an apple flapjack did some drawing and walked the dog, the second his mum came back he started playing up he very much wants to control her and have her attention at all times, he ended up punching kicking and biting her he completely loses all control, again it was very scary and stressful for both of us. I feel so sorry for his mum but I need to put myself first, I’m hoping it’s not too long before he goes into residential for her sake.
Not sure about dinner tonight I found a new recipe for a type of chicken Kiev made with chicken mince and Boursin cheese so I might try that, otherwise we might have a cheeky takeaway.
Hugs to all those with nasty colds xx
Yorks lass it’s a tough time of year for you, sending hugs xx
Have good days all and take care xx9 -
Morning all
I've read everyones' news but it seems to have disappeared out of my brain!
I'm feeling a bit better today and my test this morning was negative - I'm still going to keep away from mam and dad for another couple of days and from little one as I still have a runny nose and am sneezing a lot. It started with a runny nose and feeling like I was getting a really bad cold last weekend, so I hope everyone sniffing and sneezing is ok.
Snoozer - it must be so hard for you now the family have moved, I miss little one if we miss just one weekend!
She rang last night full of chat, she'd thoroughly enjoyed her school trip and was so proud of herself that she'd been by herself, just like everyone else. She has no idea that DD was only a couple of miles away, just in case! She managed to get some Christmas shopping done.
I'm just going to have a pottering about day, though to be fair I've just been fiddling on my laptop since I got up...I'll have to stir myself.
I hope everyone has a good day x

Morning All
Sunny here so hoping to get second wash dry.
Been MIA as DH and I went away last week stayed in beautiful place but we were both unwell. Only now starting to feel "well" again. I think a lot of us have been this way.
We had our flu jabs when we came back but no covid offered.
I have been reading along and thinking of all the poorlies.
Gers glad you enjoyed James May i have enjoyed some of his programmes without his partners in crime.
Ruby hope Matts mum can sort his residential soon, it must be so hard for her, glad you like your new family.
Nice to see you Taff.
Welcome to the newbies

Good afternoon from Mehefinland
Been a dull and miserable day and quite frankly I cba'd to do much. Still not 100%ok but so much better than I was.
YorksLass- I know too well how those 1st anniversaries hang over you. On my last one I had a big party for all the people who had supported me in the first year of being alone - we had a riotous time and it certainly helped me. I appreciate we are all different and it may not be for you. However, you will be in my thoughts over the next few weeks.
I'm trying to get motivated to start on some of the clearout needed in this house - today I found single duvet , sheets etc which had been shoved away - we didn't even have a single bed for donkey's years so I can only assume they were from when DS went to Uni!! They have gone in the bag for the textile recycling, along with multiple pairs of curtains, some of which I recognised from our last home!!
My new friend is frantically clearing her dining room so it can be redecorated whilst she is away . I have offered to help but she is adamant that she can do it - then in the next breath says she didn't realise how heavy a box of books can be . Think I will just have to pitch up and take her in hand if she wants to get it finished before she goes away.
Any way hope all the poodles are on the recovery road, so hugs and spoons as always
Mehefin aka Derek13
