Smart Things App for Android Find Phone - I'm stuck!

On MSE's recommendation, I downloaded the SmartThings app on my phone. I only want the app for it's ability to be able to find said phone incase I lose it. I think I have downloaded it properly, and on my phone I can see where my phone is (with me, obviously).
However, when I go to the website and sign in (I didn't have to sign in on the phone app) it says no devices. After a bit of a google I tried downloading the app for Windows, but that doesn't seem to have a Find facility on it at all. So what do I do if I lose my phone? How do I link the phone app to my PC somehow? Many thanks

The SmartThings app is used by (primarily) Samsung phones to control Smart home devices like TVs, speakers, thermostats etc. It has a subset of functionality called SmartThings Find which might be what you are looking for.
Have you got a Samsung phone? To use SmartThings Find you need a Samsung account. The phone needs to be logged into this account to use Find.
Then go here https://smartthingsfind.samsung.com/login and login to your Samsung account.
Not familiar with the MSE article you mention but why no mention of Google's Find Hub app and service?
If your phone's signed into your Google account and the permissions allow it then you'll be able to find it here
https://www.google.com/android/find/#
There's an app too to find one device with another.

As above, just use Google Find.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.2

Well - that was incredibly simple. Just clicked on the google link you gave (huge thanks flaneurs-lobster) and without doing anything at all it found my phone!
For info, it was a video clip of Martin Lewis on a breakfast show that came up on my Facebook from MSE's Facebook page, it looked legitimate.1
