IHT forms - what I've learned...

in case it helps anyone else:
1) you need to use the Adobe pdf software. if you do then the autocalculations within the IHT400 works and (despite what it says on gov.uk) you CAN save a part completed form. You still need to manually copy info across from the schedules. If any figure is negative the box will stay blank.

2) the helpline told me that they definitely need 'wet' signatures from all executors despite an alleged workaround for this. So the other executor printed out the relevant page of IHT400, signed it and posted it to me for inclusion.

3) apparently the carpets and curtains box on IHT405 can be left blank.

4) when they ask for 'copies' they mean just standard photocopies, e.g. of will, power of attorney and probate grant. Not certified copies and DEFINITELY not originals as they won't be returned. (the original will is of course going to be needeed for the probate application)

Half an inch thickess of paper posted two days ago by tracked 24 non-signed. Tracker shows it has been 'collected from Wolverhampton delivery office' so hopefully it's going to the right place. I suppose I will find out in 20 working days.
