Hi
I'm about the least technical person you can get so wondered if anyone could offer any technical advice.
My computer has been running really slow over the last couple of days and has now got to the point where it's taking about 3 mins to get into a website. Once I'm in a website, it's takig just as long to go to another area of the website.
On top of that, I'm being innundated by pop-ups (despite having a pop-up blocker). Strangely, when I am on a website, the webpage will suddenly change to another website, eg I was on here earlier and the page suddenly changed to moneysupermarket, I was on directholidays and that changed to some dating website. It's as if they're pop-ups but, instead of opeining in a new window, they take over the existing page.
I'm on AOL broadband with a Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop but that's about as much as I know.
I have established that I have pop-up blocker settings set to high and that no allowed sites are showing (they were but I removed them last night)
I hve no idea whether I have firewalls, firefox, etc (in fact I don't even know what these things are, I've just seen them mentioned!)
Could I have a virus on the computer and, if so, how do I unvirus it?
Sory for being so ignorant - I'd be grateful for any thoughts.
