Morning, thanks Gers.
It seems to be dry out there, not a bad morning.
I feel a bit lacklustre this morning, I suppose I'll brighten up. I'm visiting one of my house bound friends this morning, she asked me to get some birthday cards and a few other small items. I got them yesterday so will take them this morning.
Granddaughter is staying tonight and has requested chicken pie for tea, so I'll do that when I come back.
Sorry to hear you had food poisoning Mehefin, awful isn't it.
Good to see you Taff.
Hope you got out for lunch TA.
Hope everyone is ok and has a good day, take care folks.11 -
Morning all
Cold here again this morning but I bet it will be warm by lunch time and then cold again tonight.
Im off to see Matt today he did not have a good day yesterday he was very challenging all day, I do feel sorry for him and the family as it’s a lot to deal with, he just can’t process his emotions at all and then loses his temper.
I had a good meeting with the new people yesterday, they were a lovely family and have offered me the job 😃 I am going to go for a trial day next week and if all goes well I shall hand my notice in with Matt, I shall miss his mum a lot she has become a good friend but I know he will go into residential soon and I need to secure the work while I can, and honestly he can be quite scary when he kicks off probably the worst I have ever seen.
Izzy well done on getting your wills sorted, we updated ours a while ago and I have also made a death folder with all the info in for whoever has to deal with it all which will probably be dd. I just need to do POA for oh and I for financial and health decisions and then it will be done, I must get onto that soon.
Dinner tonight will be some gf gnocchi with a tomato sauce and garlic bread, dd is working and all of the staff are being taken out for the night as a thank you for the good ofsted report that they got.
Taff nice to see you posting xxx
Mehefin sorry to hear you had food poisoning it’s a horrible thing to have, maybe you should get yourself a temperature probe and test the temp of the middle of the food you are cooking ? As long as it’s above 75 deg then you are good to go xx
Have good days all and take care xx10 -
Back - wee suitcase now got all the last minute stuff. Sorry you feel so flat @Scarlet, think it's that time of year when our 'sunshine' goes. Good news about your new client @Ruby and well done for handing in your notice. Oh, sorry about your food poisoning @mehefin, it sounds nasty. And welcome back @Taff, I'm very jealous of your trip.Hugs from a distance to @DP1, it's such a shame that you've got COVID again, I hope that it's not as bad as before and that you recover soon.My morning yesterday was zooming up to the big town to return the unwanted Marks clothes and to do a little bit of shopping. Not much was needed so I was very quick.Later this morning I'm off on the bus to Glasgow. Going to see James May doing his Explorer talk this evening and then tomorrow it's the civil ceremony at a friend's house. I'm settled with a white boat neck T-shirt under the pink jacket. I spent a little while yesterday trying to open up the sealed pockets before deciding that there really wasn't a pocket there at all! Just a flap. Just as well I suppose, no being able to spoil the hang.I hope that everyone is doing well, or better.11

Morning everyone thanks for the start Gers lovely to see you back Taff we need to hear all about what you have been up to I hope some of it has been relaxing. I’ve stripped the beds washer is doing its thing they will be hung out soon we have been promised a dry day . Hubby has gone to play golf he will be back before lunch then we will go straight down and pay for these funerals I will be pleased when it is all done the solicitors next week it will be a weight off my mind I want no hassle left for the family. Scarlet chicken pie sounds lovely unfortunately I get heartburn of pastry how did that happen I could eat anything and everything at one time .Ruby good news about the job I wouldn’t like to have to deal with somebody kicking off when I worked at the dry cleaners we had a young man who used to like watching the machines going round he could stand for hours in all weathers and when they tried to get him to go he would kick off big time and he was a big strong lad more than once we have turned the machines of to help them very scary. Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing10

Morning folks and thanks GERS. A gloomy start here and, as very little in the way of sunshine is forecast, I expect it will stay like this most of the day. Yesterday I said it was a mild start. Sadly it didn't stay that way, by afternoon a nithering wind had got up and it felt decidedly chilly. Like SCARLET I always feel down in the dumps this time of year, not helped by sad memories of this time as well.
An exciting day of cleaning awaits but I can't summon up any enthusiasm for it. There's always tomorrow!
IZZY, well done on getting organised. RUBY well done you too on getting offered another client. I feel so sorry for Matt's family, life must be so stressful for them. MEHEFIN I hope you are improving. You too DP1. It's unfair to be clobbered by Covid again whilst you still have long Covid. The price of the testing kit is scandalous, it must put a lot of people off buying one. Welcome back TAFF. ((HUGS)) for all in need, take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"10 -
Morning all from Mehefinland
Well it's a brighter day -weather and me lol. Actually got a bit of an appetite this morning although the thunderstorm is still going on inside!! Will try to catch upon all the things I intended to do --or maybe not. There's another day tomorrow.
Glad to see that people are getting their affairs in order- which reminds me that I must update my will too. The complication arises with the animals, and my existing will has multiple provisions for them too which need to be addressed. Some hard thinking required!
Need to find a jeweller which sells St Christopher pendants too, as my new 'friend' is off to Australia for a month very soon, and I would like to give her one. She is quite apprehensive, not so much about the travelling distance and time, but in that she will be a lone traveller. I'm sure she will be ok - plenty of people do it
Got to get a move on ,so hugs and spoons as always,
Mehefin aka Derek11 -
Morning! Not doing much today, just making a bacon sarnie for the plumber
and hanging around admiring the new pipework [ the old pipework was a complete mess and I couldn't switch off the water to the new bit because it was attached above the stopcock.] When the boiler is done I can ring the builder to come and finish off the bit that couldn't be done untiil the boiler was in. My sister has said don't bother coming because she'll be up at the end of the month anyway but I may just go anyway, don't know yet. The friend we were visiting lives on the third floor with no lifts so I think all the stairs have improved my leg muscles anyway so I am trying to remember to climb my stairs a few times a day
I did better than I thought because I was worried about walking around but we did make time for plenty of cake stops
Ruby, it's hard isn't it, you want to help but at the same time, you don't want to be potentially injured either...Glad you have a new person too. Gers, I admire your trips from afar too [ and everyone elses!] Derek, hope you're better now, is there no one you can delegate to for a payment in kind or barter? Scarlet, isn't chicken pie like chicken soup? A cure all
so hopefully you'll feel better once you've had some of that! Izzy, hope your foot is better...you have so many stories too, I do like hearing them. dp1, sorry about the covid, hope it doens't make things worse. Maybe we should have a thread about everyone's favourite recipes, because I could certainly use help with chicken pies, and the leek and potato soup...Right, I'm off, see you all tomorrow or later on!

Good morning all and thanks for the start @Gers. Have a great time at the ceremony. I’m reading Finding Hildasaay by Christian Lewis and he’s just got to Oban which reminded me of you.Sorry to hear about the food poisoning @mehefin glad you’re feeling brighter today. Safe travels to your new friend x
Awful to have Covid again @dp1 rest up and hope you feel better soon.Congrats on the new job @RedRuby1232 - shame about Matt but glad there’s a plan for him long term.Sun is shining here so I’ve been on another walk/run. Only encountered two cars this time (no tractors!) and no walkers (I get very anxious running past people). Slightly faster than on Tuesday so happy about that. I too feel rubbish at this time of year so it helps to get out.DH has a dental and optician appointment today plus we have a tip run - wall to wall excitement but needs must!
Dinner tonight is chilli con carne in the slow cooker. Will sort that out after breakfast.Have a good day all

Good morning all, I hope you don’t mind if I join in. I put up a bit of a pen picture of my circumstances on the 26th September. I didn’t get off to sleep last night until around 4:30 a.m this morning, so I’m a bit wiped out and not awfully coherent. I think I was more disturbed than I thought and stupidly indulged in a recent habit of scrolling through a load of clickbait reels on social media until 2:00 a.m. (my habitual bedtime is much healthier than that & I normally sleep very well. I took a phone call yesterday from the new estate agents (for Mum’s house which we’re selling to raise funds for her care in a care home). She told me the house sale had fallen through. This is the second time (previous estate agents went out of business just as the previous buyers were shown to be unable to buy). So we’ve now reached the house being on the market for a year and the insurance due to renew at @ £2,000. The responsibility for managing all of the above falls to me. For some reason as soon as we have a potential buyer, the house gets taken off the market quite early in the process even if we have a queue of viewers - they simply get cancelled, so effectively we’ve turned other people away for the six weeks it took both buyers to decide they couldn’t proceed.
So that’s boring detail number one that I think was what kept me alert ‘til the wee smalls. I have what might be the last Doctor’s appointment to catch up with the results of my last tests (for symptoms that arose in March/April this year). We’ve already figured out that I don’t have any of the three cancer suspects (so I’m already happy that we’ve eliminated the worst case scenarios), and that I have quite bad anaemia. I’ve been guzzling iron supplements so this blood test will show if I’ve overcome this. It’s what’s making me so feeble after a lifetime of being very capable.
Boring detail three is my husband’s mental health, he’s re stablised his meds and has managed to keep up attendance with his newer higher level job. there are a lot of issues between us which are on a back burner for now as we’re ships that pass in the night these days and neither of us up for the conversations which usually collapse into arguments. Unfortunately we’ve shelved the part time occupation I was involved in, which I have mixed feelings about. I was too exhausted to do it so I don’t miss being burned out all the time, but I’ve also lost the sense of purpose it gave me.
Mum has recently been ill so locked down in the care home and not visitable, they opened back up yesterday.
I’ve yet to check the land where we want to scatter my uncle’s ashes as well as plan the event and invite people to it.
As an attempt to get to sleep last night, I went through the things I was grateful for yesterday, and to be honest my gratitude still covers most of my life and people in it. All still here, and house sales and management and decluttering my own house/life are mere blips which will be forgotten eventually. Husbands? Well they’re another matter. (Although I’m very grateful for this one when he hasn’t got his head up his own ………. )
