I need some advice please, it pertains to Currys

I went to a Currys store on Friday to purchase a laptop. Bought one but they don’t keep laptops instore. Paid for next day delivery before noon which meant the laptop was getting delivered on Saturday. My partner waited in for the laptop and it never turned up. He went back to the store on Saturday where it was ordered at to be told that DPD had cancelled the delivery due to the laptop getting damaged in transit. There was no communication from Currys or DPD on the day of delivery to say that the order had been cancelled. While instore, he got told that a replacement laptop was now going to be delivered on Monday before noon. This time his dad waited in for the delivery and the laptop never turned up once again. So we both went back to the store on the same day (Monday) to be told that whoever said that the laptop was getting delivered on Monday, shouldn’t have said that. This is because Currys have to wait for DPD to return the damaged laptop before they can send a replacement out which could take up to 3 days. So I asked if I can just cancel the order as I was not happy with the lack of communication. Two people had wasted their time over two days due to lack of communication. I was told that I had to go online to cancel the order as they can’t do it instore even though it was purchased instore. Last night I went online to cancel the order and I got connected to a retail assistant via video call. When I mentioned that I wanted to cancel my order, I got told abruptly that I had to ring a number on my receipt and then the person ended the call without giving me a chance say anything. The call lasted about 10 seconds. So I rang a customer service number, someone answered then I got put hold. Waited 20 minutes then got told that they can’t cancel the order due to it already showing as cancelled. I purchased it using BNPL so that’s showing I’m in the hole for 700 plus pounds and I’m no further forward and have no idea what’s going on because no one can give me a definitive answer. So now I’m just waiting to see if I receive a message saying that the laptop is being delivered before going back to the store on Saturday. If on Saturday, I’m still being messed around, what can I do?

My previous dealings with Currys suggest a 1 month wait for refunds.
My future dealings with Currys won't exist.

@prowla my partner and I don’t think we would be in a hurry to go back.

If Currys are no longer carrying a stock of laptops in-store then they have finally removed the only reason why anyone would choose to shop with them.

Once returned a £20 phone case (ordered online) to my local store, it was completely the wrong case. They too said I would have to return it via going online, getting a return label and shipping it.

I pointed out that I was standing in their store holding the offending item and didn't their advice sound rather ridiculous?

A manager was produced and after what seemed like 5 different transactions and half an hour of till wrangling  the refund was processed.

I bet the computer says "No" a lot louder when it's £700 rather than £20.

And don't get me started on the time they tried to sell me an extended warranty for a £5.95 microwave rice cooker.....

Might depend on the size of the store

True, at least they do allow you to check store availability for click'n'collect'n'run away before the extended warranty sales spiel starts.

@flaneurs_lobster the laptop I currently have was purchased from them 7 years ago when they were connected to PC World. And it was given to me at the point of sale to take home. It’s ridiculous how some stores operate now.

@Ergates it was one of the big stores where they sell their white goods and stuff like that. The salesperson specifically said that they no longer keep gaming laptops instore. The last gaming laptop I bought was from them 7 years ago and I got to take it home straight away.
