Ridiculous overestimated gas usage

That's not the point. We've seen too many cases where the customer is being billed for somebody else's usage because the meters have been mixed up. You have to check the Meter Serial Number (MSN) on the meter itself and compare it to the one on the bills. There are so many different types of gas meter that it's not easy to say what to look for, but MSNs are usually many characters long, starting with a letter followed by a series of numbers and possibly more letters.Green_hopeful said:The gas meter is definitely his because its in the bedroom cupboard.I'm not being lazy ...

@Ildhund I understand your point but the meter readings are all taken from his meter and the actual bills are based on these figures but the estimated annual usage is causing the direct debits to be higher than needed.1
