Standing charge comparison

The standing charge with Plusnet is around £30 per month for the privilege of having a landline phone.

Are all ISP's charging around the same amount?

I am not sure the broadband checker factors that in in its comparisons.

It certainly does if a line is included,  obviously they don't all include a phone line.

There is no such thing as a standing charge from Plusnet or anyone else , if you mean the rental costs with Plusnet is  around £30 to have a standalone phone service ( wether you use it or not )  , and if you did use it for  outgoing calls  then the call charges are extra ….yep that’s how it works but it’s still not a standing charge .

It’s not compulsory to have a landline phone with broadband , if don’t want a landline phone , don’t have one ….most people these days don’t have a standalone landline phone , those that do   buy broadband and add a phone service to it , then the extra cost on top of broadband ranges from free to around £5 , more if you want included calls …..standalone broadband is slightly cheaper than broadband with a phone service .

Its not clear what your complaint is , that a standalone phone service ( one without broadband )  is too expensive at around £30 , the simple solution to that , use a mobile phone and get rid of your standalone phone line , or that you think  £30 is too much for a combined broadband and phone service , you’d be wrong for thinking that though , that would be a very competitive price .

FYI , Plusnet are getting out of the landline business so if it is just a phone service you want , then you will need a different provider , and there are not many that will supply just a phone line service .

What standing charge would that be then?
