Forenames on will transposed

I’d appreciate some advice on probate application.
My step father who died recently was always known by family and friends by his preferred middle name, John. As one of his executors I have now seen a copy of his will and this reflects his name preference i.e. middle name, first name, surname. The other executor and I are considering a DIY probate application however all of the deceased accounts, pensions, bank, tax, utilities, etc use his first and middle names in that sequence I.e. as on his birth certificate.
Is the name reversal on the will likely to cause undue problems with the probate application?

It should not do, the probate form asks for the name of the deceased as it appears on the death certificate.
Did he own a home? If he did what name is it registered to on the LR?
It is possible to add a second name if he actually has anything held in that name.1 -
The most important thing is you will need the probate certificate to show the name used on the bank accounts etc - so that the banks will accept it.

What name(s) are given on the death certificate ?
At the registration you are asked if they went by any other names and these then get recorded on the death certificate.
My father also went by his middle name most of the time and so his death certificate says something along the lines of 'Alistair Baxter COOK, otherwise Baxter COOK'
I can't remember for sure, but I think there may be a similar question on the probate application where you can give any aliases that the person may have used (which would include just dropping the first name).3
