Faulty charging port and being told it’s out of warranty

Alderbank said:@faultyhardware, instead of going mad thinking that it’s unfair, have you tried charging it from someone else's iPad charger?
That might help you resolve the issue.0 -

- Underrated, poor quality or faulty USB power source.
- Poor quality or damaged charging cable.
- Contaminated, corroded or damaged cable plug or iPad socket.
Have all of the above been completely ruled out? as Apple's very vague report of "A hardware issue with no user misuse or error" could include any of these.
I (personally) would consider a USB charging "lead" as a wear and tear item.
If the iPad socket is full of packed lint/crud/corrosion, again not unfit for purpose, in the same way your car isn't "unfit for purpose" just because the user interface to the power system (say the cigarette lighter socket) has got so full of gunk that it can no longer properly conduct electricity.1 -
The fact it works with any cable at all means the port isn't broken, it means there's something impacting the contact between cable and socket.
If I used a magnifying glass on the one I 'fixed' for a relative the other week I would have not see what I did manage to take out.
Two things worth trying, as at this point you have nothing to lose...
Hairdryer, on cold, full power, blow into the port.
Toothpick (plastic or wood NOT metal/paperclip) into the port and gently pick at the bottom of socket to see what comes out.
