    Or, use a VOIP client on a smartphone to receive the incoming calls from the ported number

    I use the Andrews/Arnold VOIP phone plan and have it set to ring my long standing  landline number which I ported to Andrews/Arnold .... ( I use an old type cordless DECT phone connected to VOIP via my router) ... and Andrews/Arnold send a voice message to my mobile phone that the callers to my landline number are invited to leave.

    An alternative is just to have them divert the call directly to a mobile phone (you pay the cost of the diverted part of the call if you take this option).
