How long to default?

What I can see now many creditors don’t register default even after 8 or more missed payments! Why they don’t stick to guidance then? Why they delay it so long?

Maybe to see how nervous you might get?  Or maybe they consider it having defaulted but just haven't bothered to tell you.

I think they get mixed messages from the regulatory bodies.

The guidance you may need to point them to is at

Another point to consider is that they may want to retain you as a customer, in the absence of other information. They may be hoping you will get your account back on track and thus retain your business.

After all, they will be unaware of any intention you may have to obtain defaults so your transition to debt management is a smoother ride, all they know is you stopped paying them, but will have no idea why.

One creditor passed debt collecting to Wescot. But I don’t contact Wescot yet as still no default at my credit file visible.
